Eddie definitively overuses rematch clauses. Heard him a wk or whatever ago saying McGrail vs O'Quinn had a rematch clause lol. Like McGrail is a ok low to mid level prospect, but is he THAT good or have THAT much of a following this early in his career that we need to put rematches in his opps contracts? I'd have assumed no, but I'd have been wrong.

And of course no-one needs to accept them. Usyk certainly didn't need to. They accept them for money, the same reason they fight in the first place.
They're held out as a form of ransom on the belt and blackmail to the challenger such that they have to be accepted or the fight is off.

When they're only one way and benefit AJ it's weak, insecure and speaks to AJ's lack of self belief.

Fück sensible business and commercial value.

Just like lining up cans to crush and paying for bullsh.it rankings makes money for the orgs and promoters but does nothing for the best fighting the best while they're still the best.

Its not what the fans want and hopefully not what the Saudi paymasters want either.

Who the hell wants to see the corpse of wilder reanimated for a rematch with Parker or if Wallin had won, an AJ rematch ?

That AJ even had a one way clause to fight Wallin in case Otto 'accidentally' won is laugahable.

Big brave AJ needs 2 bites at the cherry or he's taking his bat and ball and going home to throw all his toys out of the cot while sh.itting himself then sulks and waits until Daddy Eddy changes his nappy gives him a bottle and a tummy rub and tells him 'dont worry you're still the champ until beaten twice'

It's paragraphs like the last one that make me disregard the rest.

You urgently need to grow up.

            Haha...im good.

Its AJ, the fragile insecure diva that urgently needs to grow up and prove he's back by lining up a real contender.

No one wants to see him smack around another listless sparring partner.

Why the hell should a guy get a second chance unless there was some controversy or close decision ?

Elite boxers should back themselves to beat the guy in front of them and move up to the next guy.

AJ isnt interested in doing that. He wants a gift wrapped paper belt against a puffed up chump for easy money and a second chance if he can't get that first time.

Fragile wee diva that he is!
I agree with all that, but it is all about money these promoters squeeze out of the fighters. Hearn just coddles Joshua so he will keep fighting and make him more money. He doesn't care about status in the division.

You are wrong about the last sentence. Eddie and entourage, along with so called fans want to see him in with Helenius and Wallin types.

They want no part of Joyce, Fury, Wilder, Ruiz, Zhang or Parker. Any fighter that looks dangerous they will avoid.

Yet you haven’t addressed why other countless boxers have rematch clauses which you apparently have zero issues with.

what was the need for Joyce to have clauses against Parker and Zhang that only kicked in if Joyce lost.

Why aren’t you outraged by this.

Oh and you can’t force a rematch clause on a mandatory, all they have to do is refuse and force purse bids.

Basically the mandatory challenger sells the rematch for a price they are happy with.
