Every GREAT fighter has lost to fighters they shouldn't have...Ray Leonard lost to Hector Camacho (AND got stopped), Terry Norris, and Roberto Duran who was a lightweight.

Marciano is not recognized by Boxing historians as the best Heavyweight because he mostly fought guys on their way down. He didn't necessarily fight Joe Louis in his prime. An ATG definitely, but Joe Louis is the greatest heavyweight of all time.

Being undefeated means nothing if your resume is somewhat lack luster.

ALI to me was the most charismatic and entertaining, yet one of the fastest Heavyweights I've ever seen. He was very smart in the ring and knew how to get his opponents off their game plan. Marciano was simply a brawler who took out a lot of journeymen and somewhat over the hill guys. But he's still respected heavily nonetheless.
