not really... Ali's defense wasn't that great to me... He had some movement, mostly all standing straight up and down...he blocked with his arms sometimes.. Defense was Ok'ish. Guys like Pernell Whitaker had better defense/elusiveness...
But what was legendary to me about Ali was his resilience and willpower.. his strategy alot of times was just to take punishment and tire the other guy out. A la Foreman.Comment

Ali in the 60's was actually quite elusive. When he came back from the suspension. He had put on more weight and was stationary. And that is when he started using the rope a dope strategy.
