It's neither a money fight for Robert Guerrero nor Boots Ennis.

Ennis is still Dulorme level when it comes to drawing power. It's an undercard fight at best. Maybe Robert won't be asking for too much money. He must know it's not a fight with sensible retirement package.

Guerrero kept most of his money and he works his farm when he's not training for a fight. He doesn't need a massive payday. He's had 47 pro fights including 9 world title fights and 3 interim world title fights. He's been in there with Mayweather, Garcia, Thurman, young and old Berto, etc.

I don't give Guerrero a reasonable chance of beating Ennis but I don't question his motivation in taking the fight. He's a warrior, and he wants to fight. Sometimes it's really that simple. It's probably not a smart idea but he didn't become a 3 time, 2 division world titlist by not believing in himself. For his comeback after the Figueroa loss he fought Adam Mate for only a $25,000 guarantee.

He is, sadly, a step up in comp for Boots. Guerrero clearly past it, but he is crafty and has the experience to possibly go 12. He doesn't have the power to stop Boots but possibly he could keep him honest.

When you look at the division, you really do have to wonder why Boots hasn't fought at least a couple of challenges yet. It is a strange deal because he is a talented fighter, but he is so protected that it wouldn't be surprising to see him get hurt and stopped against a tough opponent. Villa was tagging him. He is not great defensively. But the case could be made he will step up his game against better comp.

I have mentally played out a Bud Boots fight a dozen times. I just see no way Bud doesn't knock him out. Ennis leaves himself open because he is skilled. I kind of hope Bud beats Spence in a rematch and fights Boots.

Not up to me, or any fan for that matter, whether this fight is going to be made or not. The age and prime discrepancy is just not something to be brushed aside. One would hope he lasts the distance. If he does, there's no way anyone in front of him would come out unscathed.

Some fighters just know they can take a solid beating that's worth the thousands/millions that they'll collect for it.

When social media showed me a picture of the tale of the tape for Guerrero-Berto, I swear I thought there was a mistake and that it was from their first fight. I had no clue that they were rematching. I literally had to do a double take on the picture and was shocked that they were actually fighting. There is no reason either of these guys should still be in it at this point in their lives.

Is this even a money fight for Jaron "Boots" Ennis? It's not even a money fight for "Ghost" Guerrero either.
