Could you name a better year for boxing?

I’m trying to remember a year I enjoyed this much as 2023 as far as big fights or interesting fights. I was wrong with a lot of my predictions. I thought Spence would win and that Charlo would do a little better. So could anybody name one?

to call 2023 a "great" year for boxing just shows how far the bar has been lowered.

Great is an opinion word it has different meanings for different people, lets say we had a lot of quality matchups pretty much constant throughout the year, I enjoyed boxing this year.

Definitely the best in the past 7 years. Some mismatches but overall, solid year for boxing. Money is ruining it though

This is a serious question, I am not trying to be confrontational, why do you still watch?

Context for my question is that boxing seems to cause a large proportion of this forum an obvious amount of anger and frustration. I don't understand why people maintain a hobby/pastime that doesn't bring them joy.

Especially with the Saudi money getting involved in the heavier weights, I can realistically see next year possibly being even better.

Usyk/Fury has a better chance of actually happening more than ever (not a guarantee but higher than 2023), same for Wilder/AJ even if 5 years too late. Bivol/Beterviev and Canelo/Benavidez actually has some legit smoke behind it now instead of fans just calling for it on a forum.

Crawford after the wasteful Spence rematch in early 2024 will hopefully be willing to squeeze in a match with Tszyu before the year ends. Knowing Haney you can assume he will keep busy against some beltholder even if the match ends up boring, Tank will fight someone equally underwhelming for good money and PPV, Shakur will have another boring fight or two that he will win, and Loma will get a belt back on his way to retirement.

As usual the lighter divisions champions will continue to be active regardless, with 130 and 126 further bashing eachother around to solidify "the man" of the weight class. In 122 having mandatory undisputed defense x2 by Inoue against Nery/MJ is just as good or maybe even better excitement wise than going undisputed against Fulton/Tapales. Estrada/Nakatani/Bam will go up a weight class for more good stuff and there should be some farewell match by Chocolatito. Teraji will continue to own 108 and hopefully Shigeoka bros entertain the smallest division with some young blood.

                  Huh?

                  Zhang -Joyce 2 fights
                  Loma - Haney
                  Spence -Crawford
                  Benavidez -Andrade
                  Foster -Hernandez
                  Inoue -Fulton
                  Rodriguez -Edwards
                  Ioka - Franco 2x

It was a good year, but the best? I don`t know.

because when its done correctly, its the absolute best sport on the planet. And there isnt a close 2nd. Problem is, its rarely done correctly anymore......
