I’m all for this, let Inoue stay at 122 for a little while and fill out instead of rushing to 126. I’d like to see him defend against Casimero too, assuming he beats Tapales of course.

Really fun fight considering the styles and narrative that will build in the fight, it be a Naoya Inoue fighting another prime former world champion in Luis Nery (34-1, 26 KOs) during his superbantamweight run. A boxer puncher really hated in Japan for spoiling the party I multiple occasions and having dirty tactics.

Like missing weight against the undefeated champion Shinsuke Yanamaka, unable to get it even if he won and he tested positive If their first match, he brutally knocked him out twice, in both matches and Japan really liked the guy. He had twelve successful defences and a reign which is the fourth longest in boxing's bantamweight division. Which was spoiled by Nery.

If Noaya wins, it be interesting to see him take on John Riel Casimero and the winner of Murodjon Akhmadaliev/Kevin Gonzalez, as they are the only remaining big names remaining before clearing the division and moving up.

It will look just like the second Donaire demolition.

That would've been nice, as Casimero needs a good win to bring his value up again or it will be an even bigger waste of time than Tapales with no belts on line. If Casimero loses, then he officially will have no value to fight and Inoue can ignore him, and if Nery loses then that POS misses out on the payday so a win-win either way. Unfortunately Nery is already locked in as mandatory so there is no way he will risk it against Casimero. So I guess Goodman vs Casimero will be the next ideal match and winner gets his payday.

MJ just needs to make sure he doesn't mess up again vs Gonzales and become the next mandatory after Nery, so Inoue can fight him and get rid of the hater's excuse that he went undisputed against a chump in Tapales and show he would've gone undisputed easily against MJ as well had he kept the belts.

Nery hopefully in early May, MJ in late August, winner of Goodman/Casimero in end of the year would be my dream 2024. Then start 2025 out with a **** at 126.
