That would be great. An old lion taking on a young one. Doesn't happen often, and when it does the old lion is usually too old. So, if the $ is right maybe they can figure it out sooner than later.

As for 115, you can take Junto Nakatani off the list, too:

      Yeah.
The article's just name dropping Nakatani.

Neither Mr. Honda with Teiken ( who promotes both ) nor Robert Garcia wanted that fight.

It coulda been made after Bam beat Carlos Cuadras ans Rungvisai. But he chose to drop back down to 112 and relinquish the 115 title.

Now that Junto is at 118 lbs.
Bam will move back up to 115.

      Not saying Bam's scared.
Just saying his promoter and coach chose to take a different route.

Given Bam and Nakatani's age and size, they probably thought it was worth it to get both of them a multi-division title first without overlapping their divisions.

Having Nakatani going for third division against Santiago where he probably will stay for a few years to hopefully unify or even challenge for undisputed, and Bam going back to his initial weight class and wreak havoc. With Choco on his way out, I guess Teiken wants some new young star fighters for the lighter weights to promote in Japan/Asia.

My guess is that Nakatani goes up to 122 about a year after Inoue goes up to 126, and Bam goes up to 118 at the same timing Nakatani goes up.

And given the age difference and opponents available, I can see Inoue staying at 126 for a few years (likely until near retirement) so if Nakatani possibly ever fights Inoue it will be atleast 5 years later when Inoue is 35 and near retirement and Nakatani at 30.

I agree with the convo you and Elheath had after this post. I don't know what you meant by the article was "just name dropping Nakatani", though.

The article / interview mentioned Nakatani as a possible future opponent.
Like I mentioned in an early post.
Teiken and Robert Garcia do not want that fight.

So Nakatani's name was " dropped " to add intrique to a fight that neitber the promoter nor coach intend to make anytime in the near future.

You confused me, bro. Your comment "The article's just name dropping Nakatani." was posted in response to a post where I linked to a Ring Magazine article about Junto. But, I understand now you're talking about THIS article we're commenting on.

Now I get you. And I agree 100%.
