  • Comments Thread For: Devin Haney 'Didn't Wanna Get Too Greedy' By Pushing For KO Against Regis Prograis

There were times Saturday night when Devin Haney was sure that if he pushed the issue he could've stopped Regis Prograis. The new WBC super lightweight champion dropped Prograis with a right hand that landed in the third round. He also affected Prograis with punches later during a 12-round fight he completely controlled.

What a load of BS no one holds back on a KO especially in a title fight, but Haney is a skillful boxer but has no killer instinct or huge power.

He doesn't need to be a killer. Though he has more than enough power to keep killers off him and dominate them with his skills. Folks are talking high of Subriel Matias but I could see Haney dominate him through pure skills superiority.

I never said he has to be a killer many great champions have been good champions with skill, but I'm responding to his comments about holding back which is rubbish. Did you even read the article?

In all fairness he nearly got the KO anyway , but holding back is rubbish , it unfortunately gets the feel of insecurity about himself .You'd never hear Hagler , Leonard , Duran or Hearns talk like that. I like his silky skills but let's see him with the top boys like Crawford , because he and his mouthy dad say that's where he is. So put your money where your mouth is Bill and lets see the whole truth.

That's the difference between a Haney/Floyd and a Terence Crawford. We would all rather watch a Crawford fight

Zero KO's in 4 years! The main article today says he is on the precipice of superstardom. Noper - not without some kind of excitement. Boxing enthusiasts may enjoy it, but nobody else will.

Haney was vastly superior to Prograis and a knockout was there for him if he just pushed for it a little more. But it’s not in his DNA, if he is going to be scared of going for the kill then he is never going to be a big fan favorite.
