He didn't only have one dominant round, Compubox had them winning the same number or rounds.

Haney didn't beat Loma, he had a very close competitive match with him, and he was the one being hurt in the fight.

That's not what "beating someone in a fight means".

He got the decision because that's what do boxing powers when a fight is competitive they make the business friendly fighter wins 99% of time, and in this case the younger american fighter, as usual.

In order to be the champ. You have to defeat the champ. Did Loma do enough to decisively take those belts away from Haney; The answer is no?

Vasily allowed too many precious seconds and minutes of every round to go by while doing nothing. A challenger should never believe that they can defeat the champion that way.

The challenger must convince the three official judges that they want to win the fight a whole lot more than the champion does but Loma didn't do that.

      Yes exactly

They usually must overcome a 2 or 3 round head start in a lot of cases

Haney didn't jab, run or hug. He stood flat-footed the whole time and yet he still managed to dictate the tempo and pace of the fight by controlling both Loma's punch volume and work rate.

So why was that? Why was Loma so tentative in letting his hands go? Also, why did he find it so difficult to take risks, pressure and put his punches together more against Devin Haney?

idk seemed like 2 evenly matched guys going at it on the night

maybe cos the guy in front of him was 2 or 3 weightclasses bigger than him, that is usually a bit of a problem for guys

BS, Loma was definitely the ring general in the majority of that fight, even with being so undersized.

Ok! If that was certainly the case then he should have won the fight then.

The point of the matter is; Haney’s style had Loma both baffled and confused. To the point of him not being able lo let his hands go.

You said ring generalship? Don’t make me laugh The fact of the matter is; It was Devin’s ring generalship that dictated both the pace and tempo of the fight.

                To the point where Loma’s punch volume and work rate had dropped to significant new lows. For the exception of the 11th round;

Not once was Vasiliy able to land more than a single punch at a time.

True, but he has some fans behind him and can sell the fight. That may be a factor…Haney and his team will see dollar signs.

What? He just got to 140 lol. Fighting at 135 for so long might've really done a number on him.
