Comments Thread For: Devin Haney: I Should Be Fighter Of The Year; My Dad Deserves Trainer Of The Year

First of all, Haney had SIGNED to fight Prograis before the WBC ruled AND he was still “Champion in Recess”, meaning he could change his mind and get the belt back, plus was still regarded as undisputed by the WBC. That’s what happened with Pacquiao when he got stripped for chasing Cryan. Shakur wasn’t interim or “Gold” or whatever, he had to fight for vacant, just like Ugas did.
Crawford has not committed to fighting anyone. He just talks about fighting lightweights and super middleweights while refusing to fight welterweights. It’s completely different. IBF’s stripping renders Crawford no longer undisputed, because Boots was interim. Boots already earned the title AND defended it by that point.
As far as Tapales it’s not even about being a weak champion. Prograis was never stopped and before Haney, never lost via shutout. Tapales has been STOPPED TWICE, that’s the point. If Inoue stops him, it’d be “well yeah, he’s been stopped twice before”.
Crawford is tied up by your boy Spence , who he beat convincingly and broke your heart
Rematch has been ordered but you pretend it hasn’t been
Let Bud beat your Spence again and then you can start your hate machine , again
He is tied up by that contract , right ?Comment

If you defend your undisputed, you are validating that you truly deserved to be.
Do you deny this?Comment

A guy who willingly vacates because he defended the undisputed at least once and is ready to move up is regarded more highly than a guy who never defended undisputed - nay, refused to defend them - and got stripped in ignominy.
If you defend your undisputed, you are validating that you truly deserved to be.
Do you deny this?
We'll soon see who is fighter of the year. It likely will be Inoue if he blows out Tapales to go undisputed again after beating Fulton who many thought would be a step too far. If he struggles with Tapales it's a toss up between Crawford and Haney. Benavidez has had a good year but won't win it.

pure psycho babble - you're tying yourself in knots to defend some agenda

If a guy gets undisputed by beating scrubs and then vacates without defending, to you, that's equivalent to someone who beat Top 5's to get undisputed and defended it?

at this point i've no idea who you're talking about - you've tied me in knots as well as yourself. Just name names and I can [try] to respond - obviously you're talking about Haney - but who else?Comment

Case-in-point: Kambosos.Comment

Stop ducking what you guys said and address that. Why did you call those two bums?Comment

It’s a simple question. You just refuse to answer the truth - bottom line is, a successfully DEFENDING champion is higher regarded than one who doesn’t defend or gets wrecked on the first defense. Because them becoming champion could be a fluke rather than evidence of their quality. But you can’t know if they’re legit until they’re tested as champion.
Case-in-point: Kambosos.
Haney's fight against Lomachenko will be looked at as a tough fight which he squeaked by. I don't think he gets extra credit because it was a voluntary or because it was his first title defence and I most definitely won't give any credit for giving up titles. You give him extra credit I don't. I'm just comparing his fights and how he did in them against other fighters and how they did in their fights.
I'm done with this now - I'm really not THAT invested in who is FOY or p4P no.1 - I've got my own ideas and that's it - there's no right or wrong about this.Comment

Crawford or Inoue deserve it more. I am hesitant between these two but Haney doesn't make the cut this timeComment
