List of the Countries with the most Current Pro Boxers

Im surprised Germany has fewer licenced boxers than Australia, boxing is not a big sport in Aus its way down the list behind the ball sports, motor racing etc.

I've been watching Aussie boxing more in the last few yrs than I ever watched & they seem to have a good fanbase there with it. And lotsa promising talent. Idk where it stands among other sports, but it seems very healthy there. Meanwhile idr the last German boxing show I saw.

No it was just the most notable thing from the list I did, and I just find it funny, how with India people like you always make some excuses .When it's very clear they can't fight. And on the flipside you clearly have some sort of big interest or connection to India to be talking the way you do. (and it's since been confirmed- cause I just searched you are talking about Indian films, culture and Vijender Singh and other poor boxers, and all sorts in your post history.)

And It'd be interesting to talk about Capita in a cricket forum to how Australia's tiny population whoop India at every Cricket World cup at their national sport lol. India underachieve massively at every sport, it's as simple as that.

And feel free to show where I'm hyping India boxing. I don't think I've ever seen an India boxing show. The Vijender thing was about TR signing him & he was among their top am's & was among the first to turn pro when they allowed pro boxing there again, but outside of that there wasn't a lot to hype with him.

I will cop to enjoying the film Once Upon A Time In India & those long shirts look comfortable, but I've never worn one.

India have more current pro boxers than Russia,, they have over double the amount of current pro boxers that Ukraine has


and more current pro boxers than Ukraine, Cuba, Ireland ,Kazakhstan and Belarus COMBINED!


and more current pro boxers than Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan COMBINED!

What's interesting, is that some countries that are very poor at boxing, yet have have a lot of current pro boxers like India (541) and Tanzania (551)


Also, some countries like Ukraine are excellent at boxing yet don't have so many boxers (238) And other good at boxing countries like Uzbekistan (198), Cuba (106), Kazakhstan (79), Ireland (70)

Belarus have just 23 current boxers, yet have had a few world champions, and have a couple of really good prospects coming up.

Proof like in every sport, some people/some nations are good at some things, and some people/some nations are poor at some things.

Aside from Ireland, the countries you listed as doing well have a strong amateur system, going back to the Soviet focus on amateur sports. It's not just about being naturally good at boxing.

Amir Khan shows that it's possible to have Indian/Pakistan background and have supreme talent. Same about Prince Naseem and Arabs. But they grew up in the UK, their talent was spotted while very young and developed. That wouldn't have happened if they were born in a much poorer country that had no real boxing infrastructure.

If you look up the top Indian boxers, it seems they all have 25 fights or less. If you're a prospect in the US/UK, you fight experienced, tricky journeymen, fringe contenders, past-prime ex-champs. These are all important learning fights. In India and Tanzania those types of fights aren't available to prospects, which is part of the reason why they're less likely to produce top fighters.

Tanzania has 63M ppl. India has 1.4 BILLION ppl. Having 500 boxers among 1.4 BILLION ppl is nothing was my point. My point had nothing to do with the quality of boxing in India.

That said I'd be willing to bet countries that have a high per capita number of boxers (like DR) are more likely on avg to be better skilled boxing countries. Iron sharpens iron & if you have access to more peers to improve with you'll have sharp iron. And the per capita rate in India is awful at 1 boxer per every 3M ppl so its not a shock they suck at boxing along with them only getting back into pro boxing 8yrs ago. I'd even bet the size of the country impacts, on avg, the quality of boxers there. A small country with a lot of boxers, like cuba, would be able to sharpen their iron well.

I knew Mexico had a lot of boxers, but I didn't know they had almost as many as we do in America.

That just shows you how far boxing has fallen here in this country.

No way a country like 1/3 or population should have almost as many boxers as us, I don't care how boxing crazy they are.
