Comments Thread For: Francis Ngannou on Tyson Fury: He Hits Pretty Good; I Ate Some Good Shots, I Was Like F---!'

Former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou admits Tyson Fury packs a pretty good punch. Cameroon's Ngannou made a name for himself in the boxing world, in October, when he went the distance against WBC titlist Fury in their 10-round "crossover" bout in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Ngannou shocked viewers when he dropped Fury with a hook in the third round, seemingly confirming to many that the mixed martial artist had legitimate punching power.

Fury can't crack an egg on his best day, i'm shocked he's saying this tbh, especially given the fact he's took huge punches, kicks, ground and pound etc etc and never REALLY been hurt or looked troubled apart from when he was full of lactic acid against Stipe.

But he might just be playing into Fury's over inflated ego in hopes of getting the rematch.

You have to consider Fury's best hardest punches with his full weight behind them were only "pretty good". There's a reason why Wilder and Fury's other opponents only went down after taking consecutive hard shots from Fury. It's not really a big deal and I wouldn't consider it as praise.

He's not a hard hitter but he's a 270 pound man and taking a hard shot from him is going to do some damage.

Fury was the ideal opponent for Ngannou really in hindsight.

He doesn't hit hard enough to get you in trouble with one or two shots, as long as you are quite durable.

A lot of his game is in the clinch and roughousing which won't work at all on a 271lb wrestler

And as he's old and fat now he's lost a lot of footspeed and is somewhat predictable from the outside.

Remember that flush 1-2 that fury landed 10 seconds into the fight, imagine it was a 1-2 from Zhang lol.

dude is such a mild mannered and honest guy. it's bizaare this type of personality is literally the greatest combat athlete to ever compete.

don't @ me about natural talent.

this dude was digging sandmines until he was 25. picked up fighting for 2 years and got in UFC. shortly after UFC champ.

then decided to come to boxing and beat the dog chit out of the lineal and general consensus #1 heavyweight boxing champ of the world. Politics aside, he's the current lineal heavyweight champ. 0 tune-up fights. jumped straight into the deep end and outslugged the champ and dropping him.

this is possibly the hardest man to ever live. yet so soft spoken. truly bizaare

This isn’t Hollywood Batman television. I don’t care who you are, any man 270+ pounds lays his full weight behind him and lands a decent shot you’re going down. Any man (such as Fury) that thuds you over a period of 12 rounds with that weight is going to wear on you. Fury moved to a more aggressive form of boxing but using his size advantage and that can be dangerous. Any Heavyweight on any given night can KO any other heavyweight with the right punch. That’s the beauty of the division.

But then the flipside is Zhang is way more hittable and stationery than Fury, has poor stamina and is 40 years old. He has more chance of stopping Ngannou but also more chance of getting stopped.

Fury has decent power like 7/10. Perfectly fine

I also believe he wore foam padded gloves against Ngannou rather than horse hair to save his hands for Usyk for a possible December fight (which didn't happen)

For most of his career, Fury was more of an outboxing fighter, he switched his style later, but overall has a good KO ratio. But he was never a big puncher, there is nothing wrong with that (every fighter lacks something, even the greatest). If Francis says he hits hard, why not believe him - he is a man with a tough head.
