Comments Thread For: Rafael Espinoza: I Knew I Had To Drop Robeisy Ramirez To Win!
Unbeaten Mexican Rafael Espinoza spent 10 years in the pro ranks before his first world title shot. And when the opportunity finally came, he made the most of it.

The will to win, especially after getting dropped in a heap, is underrated. Ramirez was practically partying in the locker room and dancing to the ring. I like guys who are more intense and Espinoza was as focused as it gets. I don't think this was a flash in the pan, Espinoza is a serious player in the division.

Espinoza was out on his feet after that punch, and - especially if it's true that he fought with an injured foot - that makes his win even more remarkable.
I saw the same kind of gutsy determination typical of Chico Corrales in there. Espinoza can now count me among his fans.
What a breath of fresh air this was. Espinoza can fight from long range, can fight on the inside, goes to the body, constantly comes forward, and throws a high volume of punches.
His chin might be a little shaky but he has no quit in him and is tough as nails.
Very tall for featherweight but the dude is super awkward. Like another poster said, he's a Fundora waiting to happen.
Still surprised Ramirez gassed so badly and wasn't able to close the show.
This guy is nothing like Fundora, Fundora is only able to fight on the inside, This guy showed us range from the outside along with stepping on the inside. And Ramirez gassed out because Ramirez went to the body early and often, that's how you slow down a guy who's faster than you.
Espinoza would have still won even without the 12th Rd kd but it never hurts going in with that mindset.
The fix was in. I can’t see how this fight was close at all. The 1st was close. Espinoza won 2-4. Obviously Ramires won the 5th but Espinoza won the 6th. Ramirez won the 7th and that was it for him. Espinoza won 8-12 with a knockdown in the 12th. 116-110 would have been an honest scorecard.
