Part of the reason women's boxing is a joke but women's MMA is just as healthy is men's is that womens boxing has a different set of rules.

Three minute rounds are a huge step in the right direction, major respect to Serrano. As usual, **** the WBC.

This Quote from Serrano isn't necessarily true "I am the only boxer, male or female, from Puerto Rico to become undisputed champion". Jose Torres, Carlos Ortiz, and Sixto Escobar were undisputed during their reigns. Although, Serrano is the only undisputed champion from Puerto Rico during the three and four belt era. However, this is different from what she implied.

Salute to the WBC, excellent job, Women boxing is a poor product, let alone 12 rounds of an exhausted hurl fest

That should end discussion of a Katie Taylor rematch. No way does Katie take a 3-minute, 12 round fight. She doesn't have the engine for that.

I respect Serrano wanting parity, but it's going to take precisely one woman being put into a coma on a televised fight to upend all the the progress female boxing has made in recent years. We like to see females compete, but the public is not ready to see blind women in wheelchairs for it. There is a fair amount of science behind the sanctioning body and athletic commissions decisions to impose shorter rounds, so I am inclined to agree that its best to keep it that way. Maybe they could allow 12 3-minute rounds for title unification fights for now because that would be the elite vs the elite. Lesser fighters might not be physically up to that challenge.

Jeanette Zapata was killed in the ring a couple years ago. It was a story on major news outlets.

24 hours later no one cared.

The public is absolutely ready to see women die in the ring.

If it's only fair that air time should be commensurate with revenue, then the conclusion is that women's boxing should never be aired. Changing the female's format from 2-min rounds to 3-min rounds is not a move towards equality, it's a move in the opposite direction for it would amount to even greater subsidization from the men's boxing business.

Hmm, you may be right about that. I never heard of this woman and I am TOAA. You've convinced me. Let's see 3-minute rounds for all championship fights.
