I think 43 year old Hopkins is closer to his prime level than 37 year old Calzaghe.

But then i suppose you started watching Calzaghe when Lacy was supposed to destroy him.

By 37 Calzaghe had lost some of his speed, most of his power, had to change his offencive work to a less effective loser style, his reflexes wasn't as sharp.

same is true of Hopkins of course but less so and Hopkins style makes the crack less obvious.

I never understand why people think that the Calzaghe that fought lacy, Kessler, hopkins and Jones is somehow the prime Calzaghe, trust me it wasn't.

Unbelievable the things you read here...

Hopkins who now throws 12 punches a round is closer to his prime than Calzaghe, who was still a blur up until his last fight. Must be the loss of that one-punch power

Maybe because those were the only people worth a damn he ever fought and no one knew who the hell calzaghe was prior to that.

I'll say this, Calzaghe at 36 was much closer to his prime than hopkins was at 43, I mean Calzaghe just beat the one really solid opponent prior in Kessler. Hopkins has slowed down quite a bit which showed against Winky (and even against Tarver he slowed down despite winning easily) . Silly arguement regardless since the thread is prime vs prime.

That is true. He never locked horns with Andrew Council.

That's because he couldn't figure out what 'style' to use.

Bernard wins a wide UD. He was old enough to be a grandfather when he fought Joe, COME ON!

Calzaghe by UD with the crowd chanting easy. It would look a lot like the Lacy fight with some clinches and headbutts from the challenger thrown in.

                    • the B.Hop that knocked Tito silly would've beat Joe IMO.......B.Hop has the PERFECT style right now to beat him.....I felt he did but thats why we have rematches.......my bad!!.....Joe passed on that one!!......and as for that April night in Vegas about a year and a half ago......
Tests before the fight indicated that he had a
thyroid problem, but Hopkins refused to blame his performance on it!!!!
