Was hopkins prime against Pavlik? Was he prime against Calzaghe? Obviously not. Styles do make fights, which is why a PAST-PRIME hopkins beat pavlik and not calzaghe, that obviously doesn't mean he's still not old as dirt in both fights.

why is it that every time somebody says a prime calzaghe can beat prime hopkins, his nuthugging faithful immediately claim nobody ever watched this fool fight in his prime...and btw, when the f**k was hopkins prime anyways...because every time he wins he's prime, and when he loses he's old or past prime...

the truth is, a slightly past prime calzaghe soundly beat a slightly past prime hopkins...no reason to not believe that if the fight took place 5 years prior that the same result would happen...

I think 43 year old Hopkins is closer to his prime level than 37 year old Calzaghe.

But then i suppose you started watching Calzaghe when Lacy was supposed to destroy him.

By 37 Calzaghe had lost some of his speed, most of his power, had to change his offencive work to a less effective loser style, his reflexes wasn't as sharp.

same is true of Hopkins of course but less so and Hopkins style makes the crack less obvious.

I never understand why people think that the Calzaghe that fought lacy, Kessler, hopkins and Jones is somehow the prime Calzaghe, trust me it wasn't.

calzaghe just turned 36 when he fought hopkins. stop trying to magically add years to make him look older.
