It was 100% a genuine knockdown in the first round. A crap one from Taylor being caught off-balance, but a genuine one nonetheless. Definitely not a slip. Not sure why the ref got it wrong, but get it wrong he did.

As for the holding. Meh. Less sympathy. Cameron is significantly the bigger fighter. If she wanted to fight inside, she should have been able to outmuscle Taylor and get on with it. A lot of time she was complaining about holding, Taylor didn't even have hold of her arms.

As for her best work being done on the inside, Cameron's best work was her long jab. Unfortunately for her, Taylor figured it out for the second fight and made the necessary adjustment. In the exchanges throughout the fight Taylor tended to have the last word, including when it was inside fighting. Don't think Cameron can have too many complaints about the scorecards -- looking at the cards, even if the first round was switched to 10-8 in Cameron's favour with all three judges, it would still have been a win for Taylor. Crucially, she landed the cleaner punches.

That is true IMO too, but conversely, Ms Cameron got away with a lot of fouling; such as head butting and elbowing. It was an incredibly physical and rough fight that was exhausting just to watch!

I had it 5-5 with the KD that would've made it a 1 pt win for Chantelle

That judge that had it wide for Taylor is Adelaide Byrd levels of blind

The ref was about as bad as it gets. Didn't call a completely obvious kd, made zero warnings about the holding and even seemed happy that Taylor won.

Watch the fight. Everything he said is spot on. That fight could’ve been a draw or possibly a win for Cameron. I like Katie Taylor and she’s undoubtedly one of the top female fighters of her generation but she has many suspect wins on her resume.

He spoke facts. Clear knockdown, excessive holding without even a warning, commentary team was extremely biased towards KT. She didn’t have a fair shot at winning this unless she knocked her out cold

Mmm, I agree that some of her wins were suspect. I include these, Persoon 1 for sure and 2 probably, Linardatu, Serrano, Cameron 2 and maybe even Jonas. Katie is still a phenomenon though.

It was caused by a punch. Obvious knockdown. Who cares what Cameron did?
