I doubt. Morrell jr. is not a blown up middleweight.

So Benavidez is a killer because he beat a blown up middleweight?

We will see how he does when he faces guys that belong to this division. We already know he had trouble with Plant.

Maybe Benavidez but ginger ****e isn't going anywhere, he'll be reigning over Super Middleweight for a very long time.

You really think carnela gonna be around long enough for Morrell to have 15 more fights?

If both were to fight right now, I probably would go with Benavidez winning by UD, Morrell has good footwork and is the bigger puncher between the two, but his style isn't to fight while moving like let's say Erislandy Lara. He either moves around to recover/adjust or fully engage with his opponent. Reason why he sticks close despite getting hit is to find an opening to counter like Gervonta Davis. Reason why guys like Henderson and Aidos managed to buzz him whenever he goes for it when he has the upper hand.

I think Benavidez's IQ will limit Morrell to a degree and output will be difficult to handle in a fight in the pocket. He can try to jab, throw hooks and combinations while coming in or out, but stylistically he isn't a Caleb Plant so it be difficult to do so as successfully.

If Canelo doesn’t fight him next then Benavidez said he’d fight Morrell.

I also want Mbilli in these conversations.
Mbilli vs Morrell would be the fight to make right now. Both got eh resumes while being high level guys & kinda need a more impressive W to go into a bigger fight like David or other top guys at 168.

As to the OP I lean strongly David B's way here. Exp matters. David M is obv a skilled guy, but has fought guys he's gonna look good against while giving him lil to no threat so far. I think you could easily suggest David M has so far fought guys below Gavril (who David B beat 6yrs ago & who might be the 5th to 7th best guy he's beat so far). I'd like to see David M, who I don't think has beat a top 20 guy yet, get some more seasoning vs better guys before we throw him in with the #2 guy at the weight.
