Comments Thread For: Overweight Jermall Charlo Said He Had 3-Week Camp Preparing For Jose Benavidez Jr.

Jermall Charlo either had a healthy helping of food during Thanksgiving week or his lack of preparation following a 29-month layoff contributed to him missing weight Friday for his Saturday night bout against Jose Benavidez Jr.

He certainly looks like he wasn’t all-in during camp.

    Guy might get thrashed.

He says "super ready." but he came in overweight and on a 3-week camp. That's not being super ready.

"Yeah. I've been training since I've been gone. So I've been training. But whenever you call camp 'a camp' like when camp really formed and became camp, it was like, yeah, a couple of weeks. I don’t need a whole bunch. What more can I learn besides sharpening up? For this fight, I’m OK being a little rough around the edges.

Clearly you need more than 3 weeks you fat ****

And that's just when it was reported. Y'all know the fighters knew about this waaayyy before that. After the way he "handled" Juan Macias Montiel, THIS is how seriously he's taking his first fight back? Jose Benavidez Jr. ain't a world beater, but he ain't no chump either. Man, I've been a fan of Jermall's boxing (if not Jermall himself), but now I hope Jose teaches him a lesson, win or lose.

Yes. Within the article it says "Despite blowing weight, a deal was negotiated for the fight to go on."

That's no excuse. He took the fight knowing he would only have that much time to prepare. He also took the fight while knowing he's been out of shape and out of the ring for a very long time.

That's all things that he could have prevented. So it is no excuse, he signed a check he now is making it seem like he can't cash.

His heart isn’t in it. It was obvious watching him walk off meekly after getting B-slapped by Plant in public.

If Faizon Love had been there, he’d slapped Jermall too afterwards.
