Shakur did not clinch that much, it was the half step move. That kept the opponent from cutting off the ring. It was a posturing and faint feast.

To win a belt it should be the case that you must score at least 113 pts in a 12 round fight. The ref should deduct pts (after warnings) from fighters who refuse to engage, clinch too much, duck to low and all the rest of the negative strategies.
Deduct a point every 2nd round and that's 6 points off leaving 114 pts so even if say, Stevenson, wins all 10 rounds he's end up with 112 points and be ineligible for the belt.
It'd be a way to ref a fight and declare that neither fighter is deserving of the belt.

Really curious to see how Muratalla would fair with Stevenson when he gets more experience at the top level.
Raymond has a good ring generalship/IQ and pop. Aware plenty of people are questioning his chin after his bout with Galindo, but after he displayed his performances with two rangy big punchers, I think he do fine and go the distance with a featherfisted fighter like Stevenson. If I recall Edwin De Los Santos got dropped by a buzzed Jose Valenzuela who was in a bad state after getting knocked down twice. Yet the three division champ couldn't do the same against the young contender.Last edited by Malvado; 11-22-2023, 04:41 PM.

Bring in an outside ref. The ring should be gladiator-style instead of it being elevated, this type of view skews the refs judgments most of the times.
This is just on top of my head. There's so much more outside the ring that could be done. (consolidate the belts, etc). But Boxing needs to evolve. ASAP.

That fight should have been declared a no contest because it literally was both of them not contesting. Also, order and immediate rematch, and I mean immediate like within a week because they could have fought the next day and suspend the loser or both if they failed to contest again.Last edited by Robi13; 11-22-2023, 06:02 PM.
