I think that it has to fall on the sanctioning bodies as a consortium to keep a blanket rule that any rematches will invalidate the said champion's ability to retain the title. It will lead to fewer undisputed champions but much more competition as upcoming fighters will not be locked out from legitimately getting a belt and better for sanctioning bodies as they get more income.

The issue is that it has to be a collective approach and we know most sanctioning organisations (and promoters) are incredibly corrupt.

There should also be certain rules regarding not taking mandatories within certain timeframes that are strictly enforced and no exemption for injuries. It sounds harsh but as long boxers know what it takes to keep their belts - it's good for sport.

MMA is unfortunately leading the way due to a simplified (albeit monopolistic) setup.

Spot on my friend, I I've said that many times before. Fighters must remember they are not bigger than the sport. They become millionaires and once they retire the sport remains so boxing needs to always win. It's up to our governing officials to protect the integrity of the sport. The IBF seems the only organisation to do it, but I just hope they are consistent so let's see if they do the same after Fury v Usyk and with Hrgovic.

The guys who will fight him are the ones desperate for a payday, which won’t include any good challengers, and the names are running for the hills and pricing themselves out.
