I’m a big fan, and I think him vs Allen is the best fight in the heavyweight division.

Rather than just order the winner of the rematch to fight the contender, the IBF just strips their champions and lets the contender fight against a lower ranked guy for the title, which is ******.

If the IBF really doesn't like rematch clauses, they could refuse to sanction fights that involve a rematch clause. But they go ahead and allow it, so it's just BS virtue signaling from them. It's a shame that fighters these days need to have the safety of "you have to beat me twice" in order to sign for the big fights, but it is what it is.

For my part, none of them are the real champ until they beat the man, or it becomes clear the champ won't fight them, eg, when they take on a voluntary fight against a lesser opponent or officially move out of their division. Devin Haney became real champ when he beat Kambosos, who beat the man that beat the man. Shakur and Tank will be champs when Devin admits he's not going back to 135. Tszyu will be champ when he beats Mell, or when Mell takes his next voluntary, or moves out of 154. In contrast, Andrade vacated his belt and ran to another division rather than face his mandatory. It's pretty clear he's not going back to 160, because there's no big fights there, so Janibek's the man there. Ennis won't be champ until Crawford officially abandons 147. If Crawford stays at 147, he's the real champ.

168 is a mess because the WBC and WBA refuse to order their mandatory fights, so for now Canelo remains champ. If he takes another weak voluntary rather than fight either David, assuming they clear their next fights, he's a duck IMO.
In this case, Fury/Usyk, Fury made it clear that he does not give a **** about IBF mandatory. It has nothing to do with contract. He just dont care about mando.

Reagrding your reply, great observation btw

I think that champions and #1 contenders should face a certain standard of opposition. What is the point of sanctioning bodies having a ranking system if they are willing to allow Hrgovic to face an unranked opponent? Just another reason why the ABC bodies are not to be taken seriously.

Hrgovic does not need to fight at all. It is official that he is next. IBF has nothing to do with this fight that is only stay bussy fight and good $$.

Every-time a #1 contender/mandatory fights, they are effectively jeopardizing their title shot. Hopefully Hrgovic comes in hungry and does what he's expected to.

Hergovic better work on his conditioning because after 3 rounds he looks like his gas tank is empty. I watch this dude go to his corner after rounds 3 and he looks like round 15 is coming up. He also is a robot in the ring. His lateral movement is pitiful. The best he can accomplish is challenging for a title and and losing. The only top heavyweight he can beat is AJ who’s fights like Maverick in Top Gun and won’t engage because he’s too concerned with getting KO’ed.

He made more $ for sure. He is from GB, big market.
I don't know. Styles make fights. But, Zhang may have taken his shot-taking ability away. Time will tell, I guess. Besides Wilder, who are the dangerous big punchers at HW right now? Joshua, maybe. But I don't count him in that category presently because I think he fights too timidly. Anderson is a puncher, but he's still unproven at the top level. Fury, sorta-kinda. He'll get you just because he can make you miss and make you pay.

I'm not saying Joyce is the be all end all, but I don't think he's finished. Let's see how he looks in his next fight, whenever that may be. I think he'll end up having a better career than Hrgovic.

The "Juggernaut" mystique has been shattered. Now all the punchers are going to be less afraid to take it to him. AJ fought a bit timid against Helenius and still stopped him. Joyce's biggest problem is his slow feet and porous defense, and AJ normally has less issues landing on fighters of similar height.

lol don't use Ali as a comparison to Hrogovic. All Hrgovic seems to do is take stay busy fights till he gets his title shot. He has no significant wins, except his controversial victory over Zhang. Zhang was not even considered a top contender when Hrgovic fought him. That fight actually elevated Zhang's status more than Hrgovic's and Zhang went onto fighting top HW Joyce and beating him twice. Meanwhile Hrgovic continues his stay busy fights...

I'm still not convinced AJ's psyche is ready to handle Joyce or any real puncher yet. Maybe now that they mystique has been shattered, as you say, that'll give him more confidence. But, again, styles make fights and Zhang proved to be all wrong for Joyce.

In your opinion, besides Wilder and AJ (and Zhang), who are the dangerous big punchers at HW right now?
