  • Comments Thread For: Deontay Wilder Doubles Down on MMA Interest: 'I'm Trying to Come into the UFC Family'

Former heavyweight titlist Deontay Wilder is apparently dead serious about testing himself in mixed martial arts. The native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, has repeatedly expressed interest in fighting former UFC champion Francis Ngannou--and not just in a bout using boxing rules. Wilder has floated the idea of fighting Ngannou based on the latter's natural metier.

Once he's taken down which will be easy to do it's over...his only chance is to catch them coming in for take down , just that once !

He probably thinks Francis is still in the UFC.

I never understand when a world class boxer says this. Go participate in a fight you're almost certain to lose and make 1/10th the money doing it. Smfh

When he says “fighters fearing for themselves not to fight” he means Anthony Joshua.

You can do that after Parker beats you. I can see you are overlooking him already.

This would be career suicide for him. While he can box he is way to tall and lanky for MMA. I personally think it's easier for an MMA fighter to box than a boxer converting to MMA. Francis Nganue (misspelled) is the outlier here. Even though he can blast opponent's into another atmosphere he is also very athletic. Wilder would be like a giraffe in the Octagon.

Wilder will get his chicken leg snapped in half with the first kick he takes.

He probably doesnt understand that the sport isnt called the UFC lol.

But regardless, fair play to him if he actually goes and does it, I could see him potentially trying unlike Fury or AJ who would never in a million years.
