I think those who follow only one sport are often ill informed. Boxers are inevitably better at striking against MMA guys but the variability of MMA especially in last decade is insane. Most elite MMA fighters have kicking, wrestling or jiu jitsu, striking as a minimum. Of course if they don’t have punch resistance anything can happen. Most probably wouldnt endure elite boxer punch at full force.

But the minute things go into a clinch (in most boxing matches clinching happens a lot VERY early on as fighters feel each other out) when referee wont be there to stop the action or it goes to the ground- it’s really near impossible for a boxer without experience in another discipline to win against MMA guy.

Some boxers have origin in kickboxing (eg Dillian Whyte or Miller) or Wrestling (Crawford) at very high level so could be decent at MMA.

Reverse is also true - even MMA guys who are strikers need to spend 70 percent of their effort on other disciplines to survive in MMA so are not much good in pure boxing. Also 3 x 5 minutes rounds is different to 10 x 3 minutes often at higher cardio intensity.

Wilder also is a real anomaly- he doesn’t have ‘core strength’ but more insane physics of how he generates power like a catapult / elastic band. The minute distance is closed or he has a durable opponent - he will struggle.

Sometimes the ego from both communities wanting a conclusive answer to ‘which is better’ gets a bit pointless. It all depends. But crossover fights are great for both sports as long as both sides are willing to take the risk.

How about you come back to the boxing scene first? Still wants to cash like a champ, all due respect you are not the champ, have not been for a while and you can’t demand other fighters agree to your demands because you are not the champ. You lost a lot more against Fury and don't know it.

One calf kick and it'd be over for him and his hands wouldn't hold up in 4oz gloves, he'd be beyond ****** to try this at least while he's still competing in boxing.

Is this like how Fury was going to have a MMA fight? These guys are too scared 90% of the time to fight top-10 proper boxers. How are they now going into MMA? lol

Just more talk to waste our time.

No one will stand around to find out. Everyone will just take him down and choke him out.

Deontay is around forty years old , and he's going to master wrestling now ? Those Heavyweight paychecks must be buying Heavyweight "Yes men" and Heavyweight drugs to fuel his delusions. Ever since he came up with all of those crazy conspiracy theories I've wondered if Deontay was right in the head. I've now decided, the answer is no , he ain't right.

Are you really comparing a kick to a punch? A child with proper technique would likely kick harder than Wilder could punch, they aren't in the slightest comparable.

On top of that you'd decimate your hand long before you'd ever fracture their skull. Then you've got to account for the punchers bones and where you hit the opponent and their bone density.
