LL was a great boxer. He dominated the division and picked up most of the important names of his time, including Vitali.

That fight proved his quality: he was unprepared and unmotivated for Vitali, thus took a beating for 4 rounds. Then he "saw throgh" Vitali's style and retaliated enough to force the younger, leaner, hungrier conternder into a bloody TKO. He knew he would not last 12 rounds, and cut it short like a champion.

Love to rewatch the fight every now and then.

I don't think he would still rule the division. He made a very intelligent move when he realized that he had neither the resolve, nor the necessity to continue.

The only thing I bring against him is the missing rematch with Klitschko. LL should have said immediately, that it was his last fight. Not waited for almost a year (he stated retirement in Feb 2004).

Other than that, he has a very good legacy, which makes him an ATG.

good point. people make a big deal abuot vitali giving lewis trouble
but even frank bruno did too. but lewis always found a way to win
unlike vitali who just decided to sit on his stool against chris byrd
whenever lewis was in trouble he'd find a way to win
like he did against bruno and vitali. vitali when he ran into trouble
sat on his stool
thats the difference between vitali and lennox
