That's a good analogy. In hockey, a team could dominate the entire game, and that's typically indicated by the number of shots on the opposing team's net. Suppose team A outshoots team B by 24 to 8 for the game but team B scores the only goal. Team B is the winner regardless. In boxing, a runner who pitty pats with jabs for 12 rounds will lose to an opponent who scores the only knockdown of the fight. KOs and knockdowns are the ultimate indicators of effective punching and should be rewarded accordingly.
