    Emelianenko's Brother Turns Pro Boxer

Aleksandr Emelianenko turned pro this past saturday in Moscow. He's a pretty good/respectable MMA fighter himself with a 15-3(9ko) record.
This could be one of the highest profile MMA fighters that attempts to cross over to boxing ever.

That's him at the weigh in.

    http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?hum...3144&cat=boxer

He's 6'6'' and 256lbs so almost around Klitschko territory in size.

Unfortunately it's only a testament to how inferior MMA is to boxing that his debut was a DRAW against another boxer ALSO making his pro debut (i.e. not even club fighter level).

Keep in mind Emelianenko is world class was SAMBO world champion twice and won many other championships in the world, has an excellent MMA record and has beaten top competition, losing only a few times to p4p guys like Crocop in his prime, yet in his pro boxing debut he couldn't even beat a club fighter that never fought before.

Seriously. Your delusional. So now MMA is inferior to boxing because a former Sambo world champion got a draw in his pro boxing debut against another boxer making his pro debut????

Just because the man is a former Sambo world champion DOES NOT mean that those skills translate properly into boxing.

Your entire premise is the equivalent of saying Baseball is inferior to Basketball because the greatest basketball player of all time Michael Jordan could barely hang in minor league baseball.

no ******, learn to read. It would be one thing if he was a sambo world champion ONLY, but it's a whole 'nother thing that he's a TOP MMA fighter and is known as a lethal striker that KO's the majority of his opponents. So a TOP MMA striker in the world can't even beat a 0-0 club fighter in a boxing match? Kind of sad huh..but that's ok I love the Emelianenko's anyway.

The majority of his KOs were from ground and pound. Sambo involves alot of grappling which immobilizes the opponent so you can wail away at him while he is defenseless. But make no mistake the core of sambo is GRAPPLING.

Now baby Emelianenko has decent power but you tell me how those skills translate properly into boxing???

If you wanna trash MMA then you might as well go with the whole gay thing like everyone else here does that way you're just ignorant instead of spiteful presenting half truths and twisted interpretations.

Like I said earlier....your whole premise is the equivalent of Michael Jordan's jump to baseball. You're telling me the greatest basketball player of all time could barely hack it in minor league baseball???

Perhaps two myths were exposed here, that MMA fighters can box (they certainly can't) and that MMA fighters can't take a punch (they certainly can).

One of the worst decisions I've seen. I didn't know you were awarded for blocking punches with your face because that's what Aleksander Emelianenko did for four rounds.

In Emelianenko's defense, the opponent he was fighting is a fairly accomplished amateur boxer.

Hey dumbass EMELIANENKO IS KNOWN as a standup guy. Much more than his brother. He prefers to stand up and contrary to what you said to my knowledge most of his KO's are from standing strikes. Stop assuming **** this is Aleks not Fedor we're talking about. Aleks is known as a standup striker that's what he loves doing and that's what he does most. You would think ONE OF THE TOP STAND UP STRIKERS IN THE MMA WORLD could beat a ****in 0-0 pure tomato can SUB-CLUBFIGHTER level bum yet he couldn't even do that. That **** is SAD any way you look at it. Just like MMA p4p #1 fighter in the world Anderson Silva could barely handle a boxing JOURNEYMAN in sparring and was getting rocked hard by him.

There are many MMA fighters that can box. After all it's MIXED martial arts and boxing is definitely a martial art. MMA fighter Edson Berto is the brother of Andre Berto. Frankie Edgar is probably the best boxer in the UFC at the moment but there are many mma fighters that can box. It's just the assclowns like to focus on mma fighters who's primary backgrounds came from judo or jiu-jitsu and compare apples to oranges.
