Helllllllll Noooooooooo! Reasons like example exhibit A: Floyd comes out of Retirement fights a man two weight classes lower at his (Floyds) weight. At a catch weight...wich he fails to honor ant the official weigh in. Pays off and JMM takes pay off. Puts on a boring show. Wins a decision in a horrible mismatch. Jumps to #2 P4P fighter and #2 Welterweight in the world...yet never fought a Welterweight in the last two years nut gets #2 for fighting a Lightweight.LOL

This is one of many reasons why Boxing cant go back to mainstream. Bull**** like this for example! If we had ONE commission like football baseball basketball etc.. and people were held accountable for their actions we might could.

In order to compete with other GLOBAL SPORTS it must get back to free to air ****!!!

Notice how i said GLOBAL, cause i know some people will just ty and compare to baseball/basketball/american football. They ARE NOT GLOBAL SPORTS!!!

Football (REAL FOOTBALL ie soccer), Golf, Tennis, Swimming, Rugby all them ones are global so in order to compete it's gota get to free to air television or at the very least fkin cut out PPV CRAP!!!!!!!
I just read an article on how guys like Arum and King and that former Main Events company basically got together so Boxing couldn't make it to Network TV again, at least not for a while. Had to do with money

Main events brought Boxing back to Network(NBC) in 2004 for a few shows, it just takes a promoter willing to invest in the sport for the future.

Golden Boy Promotions will do it imo, Arum could have done it a long time ago but he makes more money putting the fights on PPV squeezing the fans dry.

Did they? The article I read last night talked about those 3 guys getting together to make sure they get the most money out of the sport, and part of that was by cutting out network TV or something. That's why boxing wasn't on cable for all that time in the past. Arum, Main events, and King, they all came to some sort of agreement back in the day, I guess. Also talked about how Goldenboy claimed to be the only company willing, or able, or the only company that showed interest in bringing it back to network TV. But it also said all these promotional companies are full of ****, complaining about problems in boxing, when they're the reason boxing is what it is today lol.

It was the promoters fault Arum,King,ect..But also HBO and Showtime since they offered much better money, when Boxing went off network is when it died as a mainstream sport. Just like Howard Stern used to always be in the news and he was a mainstream guy. Now he makes way more money but his audience is nothing compared to when he was on terrestrial radio, I think Golden Boy knows that if they want the sport to start growing and not shrink even more it has to get Boxing back on no pay television.

You got a link to the article btw??

            Check this out too.

Nah I don't got the link. It was a blog I think, check The Ring's website. I came across it while trying to find out who Ortiz's opponent was in December. But it was a massive rant about all this. lol It was basically about ****ting all over Shaefer and Goldenboy for trying to say that "not knowing the contracted fight-weight in the Marquez/Floyd fight, will make the fight that much more interesting." Then he went on about how all the older boxing writers from the past who are now deceased would have jumped on bull**** like that. It talked about how since there's no one around anymore to speak out against bull**** like that in the sport, that is part of the reason why boxing is what it is today. It talked about how at the same time Arum, King, and Main Events are to blame for all the problems that they complain about, etc etc etc.
