You can’t be an absolute best trainer for yourself and not do a thorough job of researching fights . You cannot say you aren’t a fan of the sport and don’t follow or watch boxing , if I saw someone say that why the hell would I want that guy ? Trainer of the yr or not he had a good moment and had a good talent doing all the work , I’m not saying James don’t know how to physically train boxers it’s what he’s best at but little details has got him in trouble in his past fighters fights he was even lost in the Franklin fight and admitted he should’ve watched more footage of him , no thanks I wouldn’t hire him .

I know guys like Buddy McGirt also say he doesn’t worry about studying opponents and focuses on his pwn fighter but when Whyte actually fought a top guy he looked horrible,I’d avoid these guys I don’t care what their reputation and track record is . Joshua is a great athlete he doesn’t actually require much advice more then motivational stuff so maybe he looks good in the corner ? Idk but I’d trust Davison more tbh but he won’t push a fighter like Derrick James so you give up something in return.

Cus was the best because no one had the rare videos and old reels he had access to that Bill Jacobs owned and he studied every possible opponent, in this age it’s insane to be that arrogant and suggest you don’t need to watch boxing with the unlimited social media platforms we have now , Ali Bashir is the most cerebral heavyweight trainer out there and easily makes a guy like James look like he doesn’t know what he’s doing , had Joshua went with him he’d have defeated Usyk that’s clear to me , he should have also been in the corner of DDD not Don Charles giving the main instructions maybe he stays in the fight and doesn’t have to mentally quit on jabs ?

Could be , Otto is game and does most things okay but there's nothing stand out about him and since his fight with Fury where Fury was defending a massive gash for most of the contest things have moved on and Otto is way down the list now.You could be correct here , sure as hell if we've seen Joshua and his weaknesses someone as astute as DJ will know his limits .Joshua is hanging around for his 'pot of gold' as he calls it and this is a contest he has picked out of lots he could have fought so it's the less risky , as usual. And there it goes my problem with Anthony , I get the business low risk high reward but he's never beaten any good live opponent and history won't be kind to him even with his money!, he's not a Lennox , he simply doesn't trust himself after a promising start.DJ is on a low after his top guy was dismantled and you could be right , maybe he can do without this liability.

Wallin is Furys third best win . And it could have been stopped .

Joshua is taking on a more experienced Wallin now and will still show you how it’s done don’t worry ., I doubt you’ll see a pool of blood coming from Joshua and having to grab Wallin in the last round after getting punched in the jaw and rocked before the end of the fight . Lol

Kid, that's what happens when it's negative. Tell me your positive thoughts on Joshua , where he's at , who's fighting and why you seem so impressed . Strange thing is , for me he had a career best performance against Usyk 2 but didn't build on it , if anything he went backwards .I actually think Joshua is a good kid and a decent fighter and think it's Hearn and not Joshua who is keeping him from the fights he should be taking. I would support Joshua IF he would take the exciting fights he should . Good luck to Joshua I want to see some positives before it's too late , if that happens you will see some different posts ...enjoy.

How has Joshua overachieved compared to his contemporaries!?

All of the "highly regarded" heavyweights apart from Usyk like Fury, AJ and Wilder have hardly any amateur experience, none of them have significant wins on their resume and have primarily been beating old men and late replacements or beating "champions" who've never defended their belts in a division were you can often get by on limited skills...

Wilder beat Stiverne who never defended his belt and won it off a guy he'd LITERALLY just beat but Wilder defended his title consecutively 10 times .

Fury beat a 5 year reigning champ with 10 defences and 9 year reigning champion with 18 defences.

AJ beat won a belt from Martin who never defended it and won it because Glazkov blows his knee and was forced to retire from the sport, a vacant title and lastly beat Parker who'd reigned for 15 months and had 2 defences.

The biggest "feat" of Joshua's career is either beating Wlad who hadn't won a fight in 2 years or fought in 17 months or regaining his titles against a guy he should've never lost to and doing so terrified to engage, it's also arguable Ruiz beat himself by piling on the pounds (heaviest in 10 years) and living a mad lifestyle after the first fight...

Tyson Fury beat Wladimir Kiltschko in a underwhelming fight, and then left the game unfortunately 'It was a injustice that a Champion of close to 10 years, was denied the opportunity to win his titles back. Think back in the history of boxing, it is very rare that a Champion of Kiltschko's esteem and level was just brushed aside like that 'In a fight were he was not knocked out or beaten up'.

Anthony Joshua 17 months later, after Kiltschko enduring 3 back to back training camps 'Everyone knows it on some level'. It was Joshua who transcend the Heavyweight Division and took it completely into a new era 'Joshua beat up and knocked out Wladimir Kiltschko, in the greatest Heavyweight title fight of the past 25 years'.

It does not matter what you say mate 'Wladimir Kiltschko vs Anthony Joshua is the greatest Heavyweight title fight of the past 25 years'. Kiltschko is the last true great World Heavyweight Champion, he lost the fight vs Fury but he was not beaten out of the game. Kiltschko never retired, he initiated his rematch clause vs Fury.

It was Anthony Joshua who stopped Wladimir Kiltschko from regaining his World titles, it was Joshua who conclusively abdicated the Kiltchko reign 'It was not Tyson Fury who achieved this entirely. Fury beat Kiltschko, but then he disappeared out of the game'.

As Wladimir Kiltschko once stated during the build up to the Joshua fight which I believe relates to his loses to Fury and other fighters 'Many people have climbed and conquered mount Everest, but Mount Everest is still there. Those same people are not there anymore'

But there is one thing everyone must agree on, as a boxing fan you have to agree to this Boro 'Those three fighters have been the premier Heavyweight fighters of this era. Although none of them are rated greater than Wladimir Kiltschko, or they are not quite the mountain of a fighter and dominant Champion that he was. Those three fighters, Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua those are the Heavyweights mountains of this era, and there still here 'Every other Heavyweight are just fighters, trying to climb those mountains. Trying to reach those heights'.

Tyson Fury struggled in his last fight vs Ngannou 'But Fury is still here'. Joshua was beaten by Usyk twice back to back in competitive fights, Joshua's world was turned upside down in the aftermath of Uysk II 'But Joshua is still here'. Wilder was beaten by Tyson Fury twice in a brutal trilogy of fights 'But Wilder is still here'.

Those fighters are the Heavyweight mountains of this era 'It is not a all-time great era, but they have been the best fighters in the Heavyweight game'. And this era is in its conclusive latter stages, each fighter is competing to see who will be the last man standing along with Oleksandr Uysk etc.

If Wallin could hit it would be a lump job, i just dont see how Wallin can win a decision when everything is riding on AJ V Wilder. Wallin will win a clear 9-3 type fight and AJ gets a SD imo.

The matchmaking is just bizarre in general, why not just make AJ V Wilder? instead of throwing them both in fights where the potential for upset is huge.

It doesn't take much to be a great heavyweight fight in an era when all the big men are in different sports and the sport is relegated to the periphery.

And if we're honest the only reason it was highly regarded is because it was extremely competitive, unlike Fury vs Wlad which was not only awful to watch but Wlad looked bewildered, which is unbelievable given his experience.

And of course I can't name 5 fighters that would "definitely" beat Ruiz but he has cement for feet and he doesn't know how to cut off the ring.

Anyone with a decent jab and feet can beat him but there is always a possibility whilst on the inside he does you, as is the case with any heavyweight really.

But in the case of Ruiz in particular you really have to give him the opportunity he won't create them for himself.
