Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua To Use Ben Davison For Fight With Otto Wallin
Collapse
-
Has AJ fought Wallin before as an amateur?
I'd imagine they have sparred too.
Not to say Wallin cant win but at this point i'd imagine this is getting done because there is a level of comfort about this choice of opponent based on something they know.
Maybe he loses but AJ's career really feels like a countdown to getting in with probably Fury (even if Fury lost to Usyk) and getting clattered which he would.
Edit: just looked it up AJ holds 2 wins over Wallin as an amateur.
They don't think this a dangerous fight imo.Last edited by Sparked_26; 11-15-2023, 07:27 AM.

If he finds it a better fit he should maybe stick with him but again you get the better work ethic in the states everyone that has been in both countries knows this .NoConcoms likes this.

Just like how Otto Wallin was a complete bum when up against Fury, but now he's fighting AJ, he's suddenly a dangerous contender.

If you are bored with Anthony Joshua, then really that is your personal issue 'Joshua has no obligation to please or make you not bored. Joshua is a professional boxer navigating and fighting at a high level within boxing'.
Are you some sort of oracle Thack? You switch up on here quite a lot. You criticize fighters and demean their achievements, go quiet when they ether put in a good performance and win 'Then you distance yourself from fighters who go through tough times, like Tyson Fury'.
Hopefully this is not a reflection of the people in this 'Professional gym' were you hang around. Fighters know fighters, athletes know athletes, men know men 'Relax Thack, Joshua is fighting a good fight in the game. Nobody is claiming that he is a all-time great monster fighter, but whether you like to admit it or not Joshua has been one of the premier Heavyweights of this era.
Note: Anthony Joshua has overachieved, you cannot really criticized heavily a fighter who has overachieved in his career to date already.
All I am really expecting from Joshua at this stage of his career is to go out of the game fighting hard. In order to do that Joshua has to be training consistently, he also still has to have a yearning and passion for the game 'Which I think he does'. Whether this type of lifestyle see's him winning a World title? Well that is not going to be easy 'But that is alright, like I stated before Joshua has overachieved in his career' etc.Last edited by PRINCEKOOL; 11-15-2023, 08:20 AM.greeneye99

All of the "highly regarded" heavyweights apart from Usyk like Fury, AJ and Wilder have hardly any amateur experience, none of them have significant wins on their resume and have primarily been beating old men and late replacements or beating "champions" who've never defended their belts in a division were you can often get by on limited skills...
Wilder beat Stiverne who never defended his belt and won it off a guy he'd LITERALLY just beat but Wilder defended his title consecutively 10 times .
Fury beat a 5 year reigning champ with 10 defences and 9 year reigning champion with 18 defences.
AJ beat won a belt from Martin who never defended it and won it because Glazkov blows his knee and was forced to retire from the sport, a vacant title and lastly beat Parker who'd reigned for 15 months and had 2 defences.
The biggest "feat" of Joshua's career is either beating Wlad who hadn't won a fight in 2 years or fought in 17 months or regaining his titles against a guy he should've never lost to and doing so terrified to engage, it's also arguable Ruiz beat himself by piling on the pounds (heaviest in 10 years) and living a mad lifestyle after the first fight...Last edited by Boro; 11-15-2023, 09:27 AM.

If you've been watching boxing as long as you claim you're obviously aware of Warren's many faults and shady practices as a promoter. The fact you overtly support him tells its own story.
