Mikaela Mayer will fight in her fourth weight division in as many fights, though the move up the scale is for a good cause. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that terms have been reached for Mayer to challenge IBF welterweight titlist Natasha Jonas. The bout is set for January 20 on a Sky Sports/ESPN+ show from a location to be determined in the United Kingdom.

I don't find her as beautiful as you say; without makeup, she really sucks.

But it's not a matter of aesthetic criticism. It's the whole crybaby attitude she had after the Baumgardner fight that irked me quite a bit (and I was not alone, as I could see around here).

Still, of course it's all joking to me. I have nothing against Mayer in reality, but I think she should have behaved more seriously after a loss.

I actually think she's a good fighter. That's why I didn't like her reaction. And, of course, Baumgardner's PED issue seriously diminished her win against Mayer.

Really demonstrates the lack of depth in the women's side of things that a fighter who was at 130 a year ago can be jumping into a title fight at 147 immediately. I like her well enough, but there's a reason Shields hasn't actually accomplished what Crawford did, even if the media wants to pretend. There's probably more top competition in terms of skill in any one of 135, 140, or 147 on the men's side than in all of the divisions combined that Shields won her titles in.

I hope that the recent focus on women's boxing will bring more interest and more competitors, so that their accomplishments can mean more.
