Yes, because the idea used to be that one would win the three belts (WBC/WBA/IBF) then stick around and defend them. Now there's a protracted process in the "four belt era" where "undisputed" is a one-off event and the fighter moves up afterwards plus there have been "interim" titleholders named in the meantime so it's all just farcical.

We will see if the fight even happens.
Agreed it's backfired big style , if you take away the ridiculous amount of money he's banked and although I'm all for fighters making good money , it's not as if he needs it ...it's called greed , they'll all at it ...sign of the times I'm afraid

As long they fight next which all parties involved have signed and been paid for. I’m just so over all the “greedy belly said this wahhhhh” just a bunch of people that don’t understand basic economics lol
I would be more inclined to agree with you if this didn't involve Fury. I'm not convinced this "delay" is a mere technicality and he'll turn up for the rescheduled date.

Explain what "basic economics" have to do with this scenario.

Saw a little bit of Fury Wilder 2 earlier, compared to the Fury we saw against Ngannou he's looks shot. I didn't realise how far he'd declined.
After the year's Aj Wilder ducking that still continues today & Fury's antics I'm now hoping Usyk can pull it off. Shame, i used to like Fury.

Meh, fight means nothing now since Fury is shot, fat, and unmotivated so he can't even decisively beat the MMA champion. Kinda hope Fury just retires so we can get some interesting matches, he's holding up everything with nonsense.

He seems to like to use that phrase without ever providing any relevant detail because he thinks it makes him sound smart. I doubt he's read even so much as Smith, let alone Keynes, Galbraith, Amartya Sen, etc. This is the same guy who thinks the Saudis will let Fury push them around, after all.

I think it's all puff pieces until Turki Al-Sheikh weighs in. I don't think the guy with the purse strings and the 6 month sports-washing festival and potentially his head on the line is going to let Fury screw it all up. All the sources agree that contracts were signed, and they all seem to agree about it being for £200 million. If that's just the purse, there's a LOT at stake. There's your "basic economics."

Fury will make demands. Usyk will comply. Fury will make more demands. Usyk will walk away. Fury will blame Usyk for walking away.

It's not like we haven't seen this before.

Lmao. Call a wahmbulance like so pathetic. Usyk is only complying because HE HAS TOO. Al turkhi says when the fight happens. Not fury. Not usyk. They’ve both already been paid a huge percentage of their final salary for the fight. That percentage for usyk is already more than he’s made his whole career. Neither fighter is walking away from that money. None of u seem to understand fury and Kinnehan were very very close. Tyson fury has DEEP ties to the Saudis. He’s not gonna tell Al turkhi he’s gonna fight usyk take his money and not do it. Tyson fury is many things but I’ve never heard “******” as one of them. Fury was busted up after the ngannou fight. Much more than expected. They’ll announce the date when turkhi wants not when fury or usyk want. It’s really not rocket science lol

basic economics = 1. The reason they fighting in SA. All the usyk lickers said fury was duckin blah blah but fail to now realize that by waiting for the saudi money Usyk and fury and now making 2 to 3 times as much as when usyk fans were claiming fury was being greedy. His greed got their man PAID.
                  2. both men have already been paid a large percentage of their purse the rest is in escrow this has been stated on record by Bob arum. If either man tries to walk away there will be not only current financial consequences but future financial implications. And neither man would be welcome in the kingdom in the future. Doesn’t make any sense for fury to not fight. It’s literally just people who dislike fury’s hilarious antics and talk and take him seriously every word he says.

This entire fight was all about getting the most Saudi money they could get. No other country will put up hundreds of millions for this.
