calzaghe basically fought at middle anyway. all his "great" wins are blown up middles. hopkins, jones jr, eubank are all middleweights. the only natural supermiddles he fought were robin reid and sakio bika and he lost both those fights. its pathetic that he picks on smaller fighters to boost his ego and flimsy resume.
Suppose its better than blown up welterweights like Hopkins.

I agree.
Super middleweight has been around since boxing began. There were a lot of top fighters Calzaghe could of fought in SMW, instead he picked on fighters who had already fought at that weight.

i think super middleweight was the first division when boxing was invented in 1964.
Past prime 43 year old Hopkins almost beat Joe, and did in many people opinion. Outside of Jones no one came close to beating a young Hopkins. Calzaghe would have gotten wreked.

It has been around since the 80s. Following Calzaghe fighters like Ray Leonard who were mor eor less shot at the weight are considered the best there.
If Joe went down to mw during the 90's no way would Hop have stayed champ. We all know that Joe handled Hop at a higher unnatural weight. If Joe fought at mw he would have been easily an ATG at that weight.
And if Jones had stayed as a SMW, Calzaghe would have never been champ.
Calzaghe has very underrated speed even at smw RJJ would have found Calzaghe's speed a huge problem. At 160 if the arguably slower Roy managed to get in and out against Hop without taking damage then JC would've completely schooled him worse than he did in their 175 fight when Joe was blown up and old.
Did I really read that right? Did you say there is an argument about who was/is/will ever be the faster fighter out of Roy Jones and Joe Calzaghe?
