That was a great fight, gonna go watch that now. Shame Chaves never amounted to much.Comment

Don't know what he could have done differently to stop a rampaging Santillan. Okay, you run around, hug, pot shot, run, rinse and repeat. Even the hugging part didn't work for Rocha. He gets pounded on the side of his head mercilessly. Santillan is just too strong for him.Comment

He kept his head right in the middle waiting for the other guy to finish his combo. No head movement, no stepping around or going back in an angle, no catch and shoot, nothing. All basic stuff, he might thought that he was such a favorite and was going to blast the other guy out of thereDon't know what he could have done differently to stop a rampaging Santillan. Sometimes the blitz is too much for an adjustment even for the very highly skilled. See Jacobs/Quillin.

That was the guy DAZN was hanging a lot of their future hopes too. Eddie Hearn was probably crying too.Comment

Thanks for clarifying, it's nothing like a good waterboy in camp!
The title does leave out some context. I don't think Rocha is saying he's not up for a fight (not like Victor Ortiz after Maidana). He's just saying that he knows his original plan to box would have probably gotten him better results. Any trainer worth anything will emphasize that to his fighters. Rocha has shown plenty of heart and grit so far, but he understands better than ever now that you can't just wade in and outpunch everyone.Comment
