But it don't matter Spence doesn't have the skills to beat Crawford he is too one dimensional. It works vs B+ fighters but Crawford beats any version of Spence

If he were injured or faded, etc, you'd see uncharacteristically low output. But he was still throwing averages of 50+ punches per round, and had fight high output in round 6. More like Spence's usual self didn't look good against Bud, and Bud completely neutralized him.

Bud knew this was his defining fight. He did his homework. Watch some tape and see how Spence gets his offense going. He's called a basic fighter because his style is essentially an application of the basics. He almost always begins his offense with at least one, often more jabs. If he can't land that jab or create an opening, he resets. Look at the difference between how that worked with Ugas, and Porter, whose gameplan was to stay low and try to swarm underneath. Porter gave Spence a very hard time since he was also able to mitigate the threat of the jab.

Then take Crawford's response. He developed a powerful jab that he loaded up like a piston to turn it into a power shot. He dropped Spence with it at the end of Rd 2, and about midway through 4 is another great example of how he used it to interrupt Spence's offense by punching with Spence. He did that throughout the fight. That first jab would land and then Crawford would immediately counter back, often with a punch angled to prevent further offense.

Another thing Spence likes to do is pin his opponents in the corner or against the ropes and flurry punches, as he tried to do at the beginning of Rd 3. Bud used that as an opportunity to counter, with uppercuts thrown in the middle of the flurry to back Spence off, then popping forward to smother further offense. Again, notice the timing. Other opponents wait for an opening in between punches or wait for the flurry to end. Bud punches with Spence. Not too many people have the skill to punch WITH their opponents.

Those same patterns of offense play out in all of Spence's fights. Neutralize those, and Spence doesn't look very special.

A lot of the issue is that Spence just doesn't have anything in his style to adjust when he loses his offense. It ended up being a really difficult stylistic matchup for him. A possible change he could make in the rematch would be to work on taking his head off line in the middle of his combos so he's not as ripe for that counter, but Bud is just faster than him and better able to adapt mid fight. I don't really see it being possible for him to do much better in the rematch unless Bud has an off night, which is always possible.

What Spence needs to do is cancel the TC rematch asap, rest up, and then make a comeback at 154 against easy names and low level fighters.
