They're not done, but they are on life support! Basically it's KingRy, Munguia, and Zepeda! I would hope they can get some fights for Floyd" Kid Austin" Schofield, but thus far, it's not a good look! Arum just let his guy fight on GBP, maybe Oscar can let Schofield go fight Keyshawn Davis? A win over Davis would propel Schofield's career like a Rocket!!!

Another good fight could be Vergil Ortiz Jr. vs. Xander Zayas @ 154! MEX vs. PR always sells!!!

Bronx, our discussion about how cynicism/apathy pervades the fans is on display in this thread. GBP used their budget to stage a sensible bout that puts the "Sport" first, just like they attempted to do with Stanionis/Ortiz. Then we shxt on them for it when the outcome isn't in their favor. Rocha vs. Santillan turns into a convo about GBP vs. TR and how GBP is barely hanging on. We consciously keep score of these cross-promotional match-ups, and I think we'd stop doing that if these types of match-ups were a common occurrence. We'll know that boxing is heading in a positive direction when we stop caring about which promoter the fighter represents, and instead focus on the fighters who stepped in the ring.

If you read what I wrote, you would see I'm encouraging MORE cross-promotion for GBP & TR, which is why I mentioned Davis vs. Schofield, and Ortiz Jr. vs. Xayas! The fact that I said GBP is on life support, has more to do with Canelo beefing with Oscar, and Ryan Garcia beefing with Oscar, and Munguia still not fighting Champions!

I didn't mean your sentiment specifically, but some of the earlier comments. I'm glad that Rocha/Santillan happened, so now we know who's ready to move forward and who has to go back to the proverbial drawing board. It's match-ups like these keep Boxing feeling like a sport rather than a business.

I hope Ortiz bounces back because he was a contender on the cusp of a title shot. IDK what a move to LMW or his illness means for his near future, but he has a lot of stuff to figure out.

Ryan Garcia is an airhead, but some of his recent comments have me hoping for the best. We'll see what happens if Duarte performs like Santillan and pushes Ryan beyond his limits: will he show something we've yet to see from him? I thought he played himself against Davis, in more ways than one. Maybe that was a wake-up call.

Munguia.....ugh. I woke up in a good mood, so I'm not gonna go in on Munguia. I'll just say that his career has left something to be desired. He won't be 20-something forever, so GBP needs to get a move on.

I am definitely a fan of PBC, and if you're objective, you will have noticed that the hate for Al Haymon and PBC is very unwarranted! He didn't sue Bob Arum! He didn't sue Oscar De La Hoya! They sued him...and lost! He didn't stop fighters from going to MatchRoom, in fact he let Ruiz fight Joshua in his U.S, debut! So why all the hate? I have my own opinions on why that is, but no need to dwell on that. What I know is Davis vs. Garcia...check! Fulton vs. Inoue...check! Spence vs. Crawford...check! Canelo vs. Charlo...check! Benavidez vs. Andrade is on deck! Stanionis vs. Thurman is on deck! That's just 2023!

Santillan looked good. Not to take anything away from his performance but anybody could look good and easy to land on an opponent who has no head movement or good foot work. I have to see more because it wasn't long ago people were clamoring Santillan is boring and doesn't sell fights or gets finishes. Reminder his last two fights went the distance neither opponent being the top in the division. In fact, Rocha was mandatory to Crawford but neither Rocha or Santillan beat Crawford.

Why do discussions on this website usually turn into debates around promotional companies ? Being a fan of a promotional company is weird.

I wasn't referring to earlier comments from earlier conversations, but tkoboxing's and nightfall's comments before yours. We relish the failure of fighters because of their promoter, which is objectively ridiculous.

Now that SHO is leaving boxing, the other promoters should realize that PBC could be THEM in a few years when their own network contracts run out. Now PBC has a decision to make: do they make an effort to consolidate boxing on DAZN/ESPN with its competitors, or does Mr. Roarke find a new island with no prior inhabitants? If we get PBC on Amazon, things are unlikely to change. Having a new entity injecting money into the sport sounds like a great thing, but will the consumer be forced to heavily subsidize again with every third event being a PPV? Will we start seeing open bartering between PBC and the others, so PBC is utilizing their own budget for match-ups that aren't in-house? We probably won't see any substantial changes until TR/GBP/Matchroom are also facing their own guillotines. Adversity makes strange bedfellows.

I'll take Fulton/Inoue and Thurman/Stanionis, and leave the rest. Hopefully Fulton doesn't go on a long hiatus. Thurman may be doing the right thing by fighting Stanionis, but his complacency and chronic inactivity makes him an unreliable (should-be) gatekeeper. Someone needs to knock Thurman off the chessboard, preferably Stanionis who's young and starved for a notable opponent. Stanionis needs to do to Thurman, what Thurman failed to do to Pacquiao.

To answer your question about what does Angel Acosta have that you don't have?
He has Arley, and he has to thank his boxing career for that, because they met due to the fact that they're both boxers.
