Incorrect. Morrell holds the 'regular' belt which entitles him to a mandatory shot at the 'super' champion.

I thought this as well for a long time. Maybe someone else can confirm, but it looks like you actually CAN'T get a mandatory shot as Regular champ, because the WBA considers you a world champion, so you get removed from the rankings for the other organizations AND don't have a shot at the Super champion to boot. As near as I can tell, Povetkin fighting Klitschko was the only time the Regular champ fought the Super champ prior to the WBA trying to clean it up recently. It's like the belt you get if you want your career to die.

So I think I might actually have been wrong before about the position, but there's still plenty of articles that claim that Morrell is the WBA mandatory. WBA is such a corrupt mess.

Dubois' recent shot at Usyk was a mandatory. The WBA have been enforcing more 'regular' vs 'super' mandstories as they're trying to eliminate the 'regular' belt as part of their title reduction plan. I believe there's only five left, with Charr's reinstatement being a setback.

It's some punk ass bull**** but I honestly don't believe that Canelo will ever fight David Benavidez. He will always come up with an excuse not to. I don't like it one bit but it's obvious that Canelo doesn't want that work.
