Comments Thread For: Hearn: Stevenson's In A Tough Spot; May Become P4P No. 1, Not The Biggest Draw Around

If Eddie Hearn were advising Shakur Stevenson the British promoter would've encouraged one of the top pound-for-pound performers in boxing to at least consider accepting the 75-25 split he was offered for challenging undisputed lightweight champion Devin Haney.

"And we all know that a manager’s job and a lawyer’s job is to make as much money as possible against the easiest opponent out there"

Wrong Eddie , you're not going to make the most money possible unless you make the fights that fans want to see. That's not happening against " the easiest opponent out there"

I think that I speak for boxing fans as a whole when I say that we are sick and tired of that " easiest opponent out there" bullshive.

Shakur is a great boxer, like, fantastic..

The problem is: he's "Money" Mayweather boring. People forget: Floyd used to be "Pretty Boy"- his boxing was pretty, and his ability to attack opponents was entertaining.

Shakur is not entertaining, at all. And that anime "AHH" he makes after every jab is horrendous to hear.

Again, a fantastic boxer, who's as entertaining as paint drying.

Drop that P4P bull until you dominate like Floyd and beat other 2 & 3 division champions easy for multiple years, we shouldn’t have to hear it! I have only seen a few fighters over the years do such a thing and non quite like Floyd. Bernard did well, Andre, etc and I’m talking the last 20 years or so but these other fake ass P4P is BS!

Stevenson looks the business and I'm a fan of his skills BUT he does need that breakout fight agreed, both he and Haney aren't big at the box office and after Haney struggled to do what e said he would and retire Loma , it didn't help.IF I were advising Stevenson I would press even harder to get Loma in there with him , a big win would set him apart...the acid test that Haney didn't pass.

He is not a draw because he doesn’t KO People and Tank does. Even though Tank fights bum after bum.

Skills don't always equate to drawing power.

It will be interesting to see how Stevenson's career plays out. Will turning down Haney's offer turn out to be a bad decision?

Also I wonder what Haney's offer would actually amount to. How would it compare to what Shakur earns at the moment?

The lack of legit punching power and other name fighters avoiding him will hold him back of being a real star.

The matchups sale. If he is matched against Loma, Davis, etc it will sell well.

I doubt Haney's PPV against Regis will do any numbers at all. Haney is absolutely not known by casuals. Nor is Prograis. This will be a good fight to watch but bad for business - kind of fight that drives networks out of boxing.
