Comments Thread For: Devin Haney: I Was Willing To Fight Whoever; I Feel Regis Prograis Is The Best Guy At 140

Devin Haney didn't want to take a safe fight in his debut at the junior welterweight limit. The undefeated, undisputed lightweight champion embraced the powerful southpaw that he believes is the most formidable fighter in the 140-pound division. Haney has opened as more than a 3-1 favorite over Regis Prograis, according to most sportsbooks, but Prograis is a two-time 140-pound champion who has lost only a 12-round majority decision to former fully unified champ Josh Taylor.

Lets be clear ,Haney moved up to 140 to avoid a rematch with Loma for which he would have been paid more for .

Haney looked like he was near dead trying to make 135. Even 140 might not be easy for him to make. I don't see him ever going back to 135. If he beats Regis , he should try to make a fight with Tank at 140. I'm not a fan of Haneys style but I respect his willingness to fight anyone.

IDK exactly who's the best at 140, but you can make more of an argument for Lopez who actually beat the top guy in the division. So being technical, Lopez is the 140 champ. Let's be honest here, Haney picked Regis because he did not look good against a guy who moves around like he does in the last fight....

Winner needs to see Teo or Teo has to see the winner, however you perceive it.

I don't know if I have ever seen someone that both creates and lives fake narratives more than Devin Haney..

Loma didn't avoid him years ago(there was another more lucrative undisputed showdown Loma was in negotiation for/anticipating)

Haney not the first undisputed lightweight champion in the 4 belt era.(Teo was)

Loma is/was not a dirty fighter as Haney claimed while trying to manipulate how the reffeee allowed in-fighting in thier May 2023 bout.

AND now trying to sell Regis as the best at 140 at the moment, when anyone that follows this sport just a little would know that he is not.(maybe even considered the weakest target of the 140 division belt holders, based on recent performances)

Prograis last performance was shyte. It may very well be a lopsided UD victory for Haney

Regis is a good fighter but the best at 140 is a stretch.
