He was a genuine solid world level fighter that fell short at the elite p4p level. Really you can say similar about someone like Errol Spence at it stands.

Hatton was often the p4p top 10 lists in his prime before his defeat to Floyd. But the reality is even being on that list, he was never quite good enough to beat an elite fighter. So what's the difference between him and Spence for example? Both beat solid world level fighters but got thoroughly outclassed at the real top level.

A bum he was not. He was a high level fighter at his peak, but it was a short one.
