I'm NOT writing that I thought Mendoza won, rather that there were 4 rounds were Tszyu dominated, the rest of the rounds were close enough where I could see a judge leaving them as a toss up. Boxing is scored by round, not accumulation, he may end up having a similar fight where the silent/close rounds go the other way. If you aint gonna get a KO, you gotta be smart about getting rounds.
I mean, he won, but that's what I was thinking too. I get what he was doing, but maybe throw a little bit more during the study process. It was the closest thing to the Loma v Lopez fight Ive seen since then, and I was def hoping he would turn it on before he got too far behind (if he was getting behind on the cards).

I like his style tonight. He was in control the whole fight, and except for a few smiles, looked stone cold and relaxed.

Yeah Bud would beat Tim. But it would be fun to see. Bud's my favorite active fighter. Nobody at 147 or 154 beats Bud. And Bud competes with and very possibly outboxes Canelo. Bud is a throwback with all timer skill and ring IQ. Charlo is mostly hot air.
Jermell hadn't fought in 16 months and moved up two weight classes yet, Canelo couldn't stop him. Maybe Charlo is better than you think. As for Crawford, I'd like to see him fight Charlo. Canelo might be too big for him. I agree, he should be able to make easy work of Tim, if he can take his shots.

Hahahahaha! If Charlo doesn't get soft off the Canelo bread, I'd still favor him to beat Tim.

Is Mendoza still WBC interim champ?

He hasn't he just lost to a greater fighter it happens. What do you think would happen to Tszyu if he moved up to face canelo? Trust me he wouldn't last 12 and I like tszyu but he would get mauled badly and brutally.

ya gotta stop with this bashing Charlo just to discredit canelo. Mark my words Charlo still beats anyone at 154.
I didn't say Charlo HAS fallen badly. I asked IF he has fallen badly, because after just three fights in the last 27 months, with a 1-1-1 record in those fights, it's nigh on impossible to tell whether he beats Tszyu or any top contender at this moment in time. My comment had nothing to do with discrediting Canelo.

Pretty good fight. Tzu vs. Charlo is inevitable. Brian Castano vs. Mendoza would also be a good match up, they both have some life left. And there's still plenty of action to go around in the Jr. Middleweight division. But Team Zoo is legit. Now he just has to make his way to the states to get that payper.

I give Timmy credit for beating Mendoza comfortably 8-4, but he struggled badly in spots, especially the first six rounds.
