Comments Thread For: Curmel Moton is Already Eager For a Fight With Leigh Wood

If he has been under professional guidance for a decade he's not crawling anymore like a teenager playing in the NBA, MLB, or NHL drafted out of HS.
If this kid was white and not next to Mayweather you would be all in.Comment

All of that professional guidance won't matter if he's moved along too fast. We know it only takes one bad beating to change the course of a career. Do I really think Moton will get a crack at Wood or a title shot anytime soon? Of course not. He's fxcking 17. Floyd understands that playing the name-association game is part of brand-building. Moton may think he's ready, but Floyd knows not to cut corners. He was careful with Davis, and he'll be careful with Moton. Let Moton enjoy the prospect phase because once he goes up the ladder, he can't come back down.Comment

Typical Mayweather style promotion talk. Let me guess next, when Leigh Wood vacates his belt to go up to 130 (as he was planning anyway after Warrington) he's going to talk about how Wood dodged Moton or some BS like that?
If Mayweather is truly serious about him being a world champion and is legit about fighting for a belt as a teen, his backup plan to not being able to interest Wood (which I doubt he even made an actual offer) would've been someone more notable than the prospect he actually ended up fighting. Either way, with one match down he's got 4 more matches to go to beat Inoue's resume of world title in 6th match.

In all seriousness, that this kid is 5'1" and starting at featherweight already kinda tells me he's impossible to surpass Mayweather simply due to height. He may be talented enough to win a few belts but at 5'1" doubt he can make 5 divisions.Comment
