    Vergil Ortiz

apparently is going to fight in January '24 at 154lbs.

Not holding my breath but would be good to see him back.

Anything official or rumored for his opp?

As a fan I'd honestly prefer if he took more time off. The sh^t he's got seems serious.

Randomly I saw he started going to college so he might see his career might be close to over before it even started.

Idk man his health seems pretty bad. Was a fan of his but he needs to get healthy first. Made the welterweight division interesting

that was serious bad luck he had with his health issues, just when he was making a name for himself too, he must be wondering what the hell is going on here after all my hard work too

Eric Gomez said January 6th is the fight date, no opponent announced as of yet. Also requested a ranking from the wbo...

The hard work IS the problem. Rhabdomyolysis is commonly caused by overtraining. The fact that it keeps happening suggests his dad didn't learn his lesson. I'd be curious to see if he'd still have issues if he moved to a new trainer.

Someone like Carlos Ocampo would make sense.

I'm surprised that his training regimen isn't closely monitored by a sports doctor. Since Virgil developed the disorder, he's a prime candidate for developing it again.

Yea this is what I understood too. Idk that going up in weight solves the problem.

Dad trainers can be great out of the blue with lil to no boxing exp esp in the am's, but they can get a lil too confident & comfortable at the higher levels of the pro game. And thats where the most risk to a boxer's health is at with these longer training camps & fights against high level dangerous guys at times. And thats not even talking about Vergil's personal health issue. So this wouldn't surprise me if it is the case here.

See how he does vs Tim in a couple of fights. Low pay and life and death fights at 154
