Idk why fans want fighters to have integrity while no one else in boxing has it. And of all the things to show integrity for these corrupt belt groups aren't the one ANYONE should be showing it for. If a belt fight pays the most, fair play, fight for the belt, but if it doesn't no one should begrudge you too much for going with more money. This is a business more than a sport. Nothing makes sense outside of the ring.

I would love it if there was integrity & belt fights always paid the most, but thats not the boxing universe we live in.

At this point it feels like he needs to redeem himself & fight Tim. If he leaves 154 after losing like he did to the biggest name in the game its back to back bad looks. AFTER Tim I wouldn't be mad at him trying his hand at 160 tho.

Here's the thing, Mell Charlo already cleaned up and became undisputed at 154 lbs so I don't really see it as a "bad look" for him if he doesn't fight Tim.

I was never on board for the Canelo fight, I already knew that fight was a gimmicky cash grab from the get-go since Charlo never campaigned above 154.

I thought the same about the fight, but his non-effort was a bad look all the same.

And obv you can't take away what he already did at 154, but with all the attempts to make this Tim fight its gonna look awful if he doesn't fight him. Hell even a catchweight fight at 157 or something would be better than not fighting him at all. 160 is a ghost town division too which makes it look bad. If he was going into a hornets nest division ok that looks like a bolder move, but 160 is not that.

Mell fighting at 160 will add a much needed, breath of fresh air to that division but yeah, sure, I don't mind a fight with him verse Tim. I just wished that fight would have taken place before the Canelo fight. I'm just not a fan of fighters spontaneously jumping up and down different weight classes.

Yea the weight jumping is often problematic thats why a catch weight wouldnt be bad for a Tim fight. Tim has even mentioned moving up by or after next year iirc. So still some chance they fight at 160 in 2025 or something, but with all the fans LOVING "duck talk" its feels like its gonna be a bad look for Mell if he doesn't fight Tim for awhile or at all.

After the non-performance vs Canelo idk that he gives one fook about that tho & hes probably increased his net worth by a nice % after that fight too so it probably don't matter to him very much in fairness.

Of course, Mell Charlo was already making good money and now with the Canelo Cash Check, the dude is set for life.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mell goes on a long ass vacation like his brother did and wont see him back maybe 2 or 3 years, let alone back at 154.

Strip Charlo and make Janibek vs Adames for the WBC, IBF & WBO.

I'd be surprised if he took 2-3yrs off. Mell seems like the one more into boxing & serious. Not fighting at 154 I could see tho, but I think I'd bet against that right now.

This is Jermell's first substantial payday, and we know how multi-million purses can breed complacency. Jermell captured Undisputed and instead of defending the throne, he became inactive for 16 months and decided to convert his titles for the Canelo sweepstakes. Then, he delivers a half-assed PPV performance. Does that sound like someone who's extremely serious about his career right now, someone who wants to defend against mandatories?
