Pretty rugged fighter. Him and Arreola have a similar style. That'd be a fight I'd pay to see.
Joe Mesi’s Return a Complex Proposition

That article was too vague and I got the sense that Mesi's moved on in life after boxing. He's got a new job, a new wife, and a kid on the way. It seems like a big risk to take (to get back into the ring) when you have all those things going for ya. On the other hand, it sounds like Mesi's holding out for a big payday and would come back if the $$$ was right....

His chin is one of the worst I've seen in a top heavyweight, and his unbeaten record is built up quite a bit. As I said earlier, when he fought both Jirov and Barrett, although he'd piled up a good lead, it was only a matter of time before he got a wallop on the jaw or temple. When he did, he went down, mand although he got up a few times, he was in bad enough shape for the fights to have been legitimately stopped. But, since he was more or less the "hometown" fighter he was given every opportunity to recover-if he could.
It was VERY clear, that in each case, he was saved by the bell.
To answer another letter, I DON'T think that he fights like Arreola, not even close. He's faster, better fundamentals, but a horrible chin.
And he seems easily upset by circumstances, e.g. he made a couple of "comebacks, in places he was allowed to fight, and looked pretty bad, making "heavy weather" of very poor opposition.Comment
