Recognising the WBOgus was a mistake

It was resisted so long, there was no reason to cave. When I take this position, people often misinterpret it as support for the Big Three. It's not, it's just we had enough problems.

It also creates problems when discussing historical standings of fighters. Tommy Morrison, for example, should not be recognised as a titleholder, never mind a champion.

The Big Three could have continued treating it like the IBO, i.e. a second rate belt which does not remove you from the rankings or hold any leverage in a unification.

If you disagree, explain how the boxing public has benefitted from WBOgus recognition.

Would you be happy/satisfied if we stopped recognizing the WBC and WBA because of their blatant corruption and inability to follow their own rules?

Was thinking about our conversation from the other day in context of what might take the place, but a lot of the rankings and such for journalism are ****** and arbitrary. Was reading a list of longest reigning champions, and they had removed Inoue from consideration because he had vacated his 118 lb belts before winning the 122 lb belts, but were perfectly happy to keep Jermall Charlo in the mix even though he's gone more than 2 years without even fighting.

I would rather we got rid of them all. But absent that optimal outcome, I would at least prefer not to recognise additional belts.

        I agree with you.

Not only should we not recognize the WBO, we should reconsider acknowledging the WBA & WBC as well.

The IBF is the only one that doesn't always make want to break out in hives

But even they be on that bullshxt sometimes.

Like a sancitoning body's "credibility" should be reevaluated every few years & if they're full of shxt, they should lose their accredidation.

        Now, who'd decide that?

I guess The Ring would be a good place to start.
