Why didn't "The Contender" take off and succeed the way "The Ultimate Fighter" has?

I liked the show but it could have been better, and I was just wondering what everyones thoughts were on why boxing's version of a reality show didn't become a big hit like the UFC version has. For one, I think theres alot of ways it could have been done better, like maybe if HBO was in charge of it, since theyve done such a good job with 24/7. what are some things that would make as successful "Contender" or Contender spinoff if you were in charge

Because its a poor format. They pick Bland fighters.

If it were true "contenders" it would do better, no has beens and never will be's like Lolfredo and Jesse Brinkley

It's target Demographic is 18-34 year old men.
          But I like it too.....

The Contender was pretty good, but the format was way off base.
For one, when they showed the fights, they were never from start to end. They edited them, this made them look awkward. SRL was a plus for the show. To bad he never got more involved with the fighters.
How awesome would it be to have sparred with him?
Another thing was lack of "known" fighters. That hurt the show somewhat.

So true. In boxing you can't become the heavyweight champ after 2 fights.

Format, editing, ****** challenges, too much focus on family and not on training.

UF is far superior in every way.

****e TV has a lot more viewers and the way they set up drama in the house was more watchable than the contender

Funny thing is, I was actually thinking about this the other day. I also enjoyed this show. It's wasn't that bad. Could of been some changes. ****e TV has some of the best marketing and advertisements right now, which is why The Ultimate Fighter took off so well. Right now The Ultimate Fighter is bigger than ever. With Kimbo Slice in the show, their ratings have been off the charts. Which is why I heard they were bringing back Kimbo Slice. I have actually watched the first couple episodes of The Ultimate Fighter, and I am truly starting to have a hate for it. I am one of those fighting fans who enjoys boxing and UFC. But I truly can't stand watching people grapple on the ground anymore. I think men should fight standing, not humping on the ground.
