Originally posted by S a m u r a i View PostThere's doubt in everyone's mind, no matter who they are rooting for, though they might not admit it. Size seems to be a big focus, but it's only one factor. There are many more, and in my opinion they outweigh a slight weight disadvantage. I'm gonna think of a couple of things where I see an advantage for Pacquiao...
Stance. Pacquiao is a southpaw. Miguel is left-hand dominant. Pacquiao could have some very good success because of this. His last two opponents, De La Hoya and Hatton, are also left-hand dominant. Yum.... breakfast.
Speed. If this fight ever came down to whoever lands the first knockout punch, chances are Manny would be first. Would Manny's power trouble Cotto? The KO shot that looked like it almost killed Ricky Hatton would hurt pretty much anyone who doesn't have a head made out of concrete! You cannot doubt that ****. That was one punch. Pacquiao throw hundreds of them and has good power in both hands. The right right looks less powerful than the left, but it's gotta be maybe 75% as strong? I dunno. Pacquiao has carried his power up well while increasing weight. If the reports of recent sparring sessions are anything to go by, Pacquiao seems to be doing well against fast middleweight-sized opponents. Considering this, I think Pacquiao indeed hurts Cotto.
I also think Cotto can and will hurt Pacquiao at times, but not enough to knock him out. Manny's chin is solid, he can take a hell of a shot. Cotto's body shots shouldn't be a major concern. A lot of people might disagree on that, but Pacquiao has one of the best conditioned bodies in boxing, regularly utilizing techniques used by martial artists, such as stick training, to toughen up his body. That's some serious ****.
There are other, slightly less obvious things to consider, for example, if Cotto is prone to cuts right now, it could be a major issue. Beyond everything though, Cotto needs to knock Pacquiao out. The reason why should be obvious to anyone: Pacquiao vs. Mayweather = serious paper. If you think the guys in suits are letting that one slip away, think again. If it goes to the cards, Cotto might be unlucky. You have to consider the politics, not just the fighters.
Overall, I'm fairly confident of a Pacquiao victory. I understand why other people have doubts though, because these are two great fighters. I just happen to believe Pacquiao is greater.
I got Cotto......I think his size and jab will be key!!....if Manny sits on Cotto's left hand like I think he will then Cotto will have problems......but Cotto is used to havin' problems in fights and he's used to overcoming them......this will be no different IMO....Cotto by stoppage!!!

but you mean to tell me that there is not one ounce of doubt in you by how Pacquiao has been lookin lately?..and How Cotto has?..
I know the quality of opposition has been like night and day in comparison but there's still that fact that Pacquiao didn't just beat them..he FUCKED THEM UP!!..lol

That why i have it 55/45 Cotto. But i still believe Pac can win. Maybe early, too. I do NOT underestimate him. i just think he's stepping into Cotto's backyard, and that's why i give Cotto the very slight edge. A natural WW who's been fighting full natural WW beasts, he should have it.
That, whether we admit it or not, will be a factor..because if it wasn't Roach would of had it at 147 no problem..
I'm not coming up with no excuses..it's gonna be a good fight..but I went from 60-40 in favor of Cotto to 50-50..it's gettin to me!..haha

so far Pac's opponents have been tailored made for his left hand. He has yet to fight a right handed fighter boxer/ puncher at the higher weight. Also, he has yet to fight anyone who hasn't already been knocked out beyond 140. Cotto is as live as an opponent can be for Pac, and though he did not crush Clottey or terribly hurt Mosley, he does know how to fight orthodox and he does have a nice right cross.
Pac likes to duck really low and spring up with shots at times. i can see him suprising Cotto with a few inside hooks and circling away from Cotto at the same time. Im looking forward to how well he can apply this movement against such an accurate puncher like Cotto.

this is precisely why its a great fight....
Cotto took on the best boxers on WW thats why im a fan of his.....He gained my respect by fighting Margarito eventhough he lost....
if Pac can take Cotto's power punches, then Pac has a chance to KO Cotto in the later rounds....But if not, Cotto would KO Pac in the 1st 4 rounds
