Comments Thread For: Warrington: I Do Feel Like I Should've At Least Been Given An Opportunity To Carry On

Josh Warrington wanted to continue in the seventh round against Leigh Wood on Saturday night. By the time he reached their post-fight press conference, Warrington was still confused as to why referee Michael Alexander didn't grant him an opportunity to recover after Wood dropped him toward the end of the seventh round. Warrington's rationale for turning his back on Alexander was that he heard the bell ring to end the round and therefore went to his corner to sit on his stool.

Josh was gone and even a minute later was still shaky of his feet , he would have been badly hurt.

That ref was paid to make him lose. First he deducted a point with no warning, then he stopped him right at the end of the round. British refs are famous for ruining fights.

I've said it before Wilder Vs Fury 1 : Wilder would have won if that had been held in the UK. We saw George Groves being stopped by the ref(!) from even standing up in the same situation against Froch. Ref just pushed him down and waved it off. "No you can't get up. I have decided the fight is over"

Josh got up, stumbled all over, then had his back to the ref leaning on the ropes, most refs would've waved that off. If you're ready to continue, you need to convince the ref of that, not lay on the ropes to hold you up while he counts 7-8.

Turn around and face the ref and show him you're okay then, idiot.

I thought live he was grand and taught he made a rookie move by listening to the bell and thinking the round is over , stoppage was right because he was didn't think about facing the ref and let the count finish , he was killing wood but I bet on wood ko so I'm happy out lol , great fight but strange end and it was joshes fault

in reality Warrington was kicking Wood's arse.

I think they could do a rematch. Wood was going down.
