When another split occurred in the WBA in 1988, a Puerto Rican named Pepe Cordero formed the World Boxing Organisation, which became hugely influential in Britain. Chris Eubank and Nigel Benn were among its early champions. Cordero died, but the business is now run by another Puerto Rican, Francisco Valcarcel. British WBO champions include Joe Calzaghe, Herbie Hide, Carl Thompson and Naseem Hamed.

Thanks for the link. Doesn't seem to have any substantiation, and is contradicted by all the other historical documents I've seen, but maybe they covered up his involvement after Bob Arum's accusations. Wouldn't surprise me either way.Comment

As I said, they're all crap. We need to move to the post belt era, these shady private businesses who each take fees from promoters are not the way to organise a sport.Comment

Where's your source? Because everything official says the WBO was founded by Luis Salas, and the leadership was as I've already said. The only content I've found about a Pepe Cordero was an unsubstantiated thread on this forum made up by a user named WBC WBA IBF, because that's not su****ious at all.Comment

These are may last days on this so called forum. As it's become a political forum for everyone's personal malfunctions. I realize I dont enjoy it here. I agree there a posters claiming many things with no evidence. Its worse then then that tho. Boxing is a the end as far as we know it. The corruption has become overwhelming its such common place now it rare to get a honest decision. It happens in the UFC because they don't appointment judges someone's getting to the judges. There was a outrageous 10-8 Rd given that defies all logic and cost Val the championship. Complete corruption everyone was talking about it. At least the UFC gives the best fights in many cases no sitting around avoid the top opponents getting getto passes from the ABC orgs. No you get top matchups on the same card monthlyComment
